VOTE: Time Warp HOF Ballot 1969

1936 Initial Ballot Results, 1937 Results, 1938 Results, 1939 Results, 1940 Results,
1941 Results, 1942 Results, 1943 Results, 1944 Results, 1945 Results,
1946 Results, 1947 Results, 1948 Results, 1949 Results, 1950 Results,
1951 Results, 1952 Results, 1953 Results, 1954 Results, 1955 Results,
1956 Results, 1957 Results, 1958 Results, 1959 Results, 1960 Results (lost in board crash)
1961 Results, 1962 Results, 1963 Results, 1964 Results, 1965 Results,
1966 Results, 1967 Results, 1968 Results

Stan Musial and Roy Campanella were elected to the RL HOF by the BBWAA in 1969. Stan Coveleski and Waite Hoyt were elected by the VC.

All players who received at least 5% of votes on the last ballot were retained for this ballot. I also added players who became eligible for the ballot in 1969 (retired after 1963 season).

All players not receiving 5% of votes on this ballot will be removed. Also, all players who have been retired for 20 years fall off this ballot if not elected.

Vote for as many or as few as you want. Max votes are 10.

HOF Standard: 50 is considered an average HOF'er. 100 is max.

PLEASE NOTE:
Players who lost service time to the war are denoted with: WWII

Note: OPS+ and ERA+ are listed for all players now. 100 is considered league average. The higher the # the better the player. This lets you see how they did in relation to the players of their generation while also letting you compare their dominance of the league to players from different eras.

Weird, Cato only gives Biff 1 WS Title, Matt 2, when it should be 3, correct?

Nevermind, only 6 games in 1945, not sure if that means he wouldn't get credit

My argument for why Arrendale and Ormiston (probably) don't belong:

First, Arrendale:

1) Played 1B.
2) Only 1 BOY.
3) Never led league in anything (except total bases one year).
4) Short career resulting in low count stats.
5) Most importantly, his OPS+ is inflated by having played in Philadelphia most of his career. Yes, he also played for the White Sox for three years, but I don't think that cancels out the benefit he received from Shibe as a righthanded hitter.

Next, Ormiston:

1) Very short career resulting in ridiculously low count stats. He didn't even score 1000 runs.
2) 0 gold gloves at 3B.
3) HR & OPS+ totals wildly inflated by having played his whole career in Detroit.
4) Never even played 150 games in a season & was worthless by age 35.

he was a tossup between Staurt and Stell. While I stand by my choice, it was a painful one.

for Orniston, played a pivitol role for one of the grestest dynasties of the live era. IN his prime would have been a #3 for almost any team.

For Arrendale one of the best hitters for the Philly machine in the late 40's, considered to be on par with Chaucer in his prime. Helped Chicago to their only WS in 1950

Right - I just don't think players who were great for a short span of time should be considered all-time greats, especially when they are not "complete players" who revolutionize the sport in some way. (Both Ormiston and Arrendale were more or less hitting machines who couldn't field or run very well.)

Ormiston was a monster for 11 years. That's a short span of time?
