VOTE: Time Warp HOF Ballot 1953

1936 Initial Ballot Results, 1937 Results, 1938 Results, 1939 Results, 1940 Results,
1941 Results, 1942 Results, 1943 Results, 1944 Results, 1945 Results,
1946 Results, 1947 Results, 1948 Results, 1949 Results, 1950 Results
1951 Results, 1952 Results

The RL 1953 HOF class was very large. Elected by the BBWAA were Dizzy Deal & Al Simmons. Elected by the VC were Chief Bender & Bobby Wallace.

All players who received at least 5% of votes on the last ballot were retained for this ballot. I also added players who became eligible for the ballot in 1953 (retired after 1947 season).

All players not receiving 5% of votes on this ballot will be removed. Also, all players who have been retired for 20 years fall off this ballot if not elected.

Vote for as many or as few as you want. Max votes are 10.

HOF Standard: 50 is considered an average HOF'er. 100 is max.

Is it this time already?

If the class that gets in isnt full of pitchers there's somethign wrong. What an amazing class of hurlers!

Here's my choices:

Minzey
Greisbach
McAuliffe
Laio

Fargo
Schukraft
Ponfick
Paul
Booth
Riley

I'm also happy that three of the 1947 Reds are on the ballot, although I dotn think they'll get enough support with this strong field.

Quote:
All players not receiving 5% of votes on this ballot will be removed.

Kind of a light class of new candidates, isn't it?

Might be just what players who've been on the bubble will need to finally get in.

I keep wondering why Troy Kinnear isn't getting more votes. The only reason I can see to vote for Bobby Martin over Kinnear is the number of hits. Kinnear had more homers, more walks, more doubles, more RBI, more runs, more steals and more Gold Gloves.

And I should point out that if you go back and look at the last vote, some of you leaving him off your ballot gave him a nod last year in a much tougher field. Where's the love?

Carlton always has a short list. Not even the 3 best players on the board.
