VOTE: Time Warp HOF Ballot 1948

1936 Initial Ballot Results, 1937 Results, 1938 Results, 1939 Results, 1940 Results,
1941 Results, 1942 Results, 1943 Results, 1944 Results, 1945 Results,
1946 Results, 1947 Results

Two players were elected to the RL HOF by the BBWAA in 1948: Herb Pennock and Pie Traynor.

All players who received at least 5% of votes on the last ballot were retained for this ballot. I also added players who became eligible for the ballot in 1948 (retired after 1942 season).

All players not receiving 5% of votes on this ballot will be removed. Also, all players who have been retired for 20 years fall off this ballot if not elected.

Vote for as many or as few as you want. Max votes are 10.

HOF Standard: 50 is considered an average HOF'er. 100 is max.

Pitchers has been thin for a couple years now. That's kind of disappointing.

Mortals
"Slap" Hertzog
"Cookie" Parrish---still can't believe no one has voted for him....would they do this to Lou Gehrig?
John Schmeider---Hobbs got in last year, now it's Schmeider's turn
Quentin Misisca
Troy Kinnear

Yankees and Phillies
Harry Finley
"Moonlight" Graham
"Fat Gus" Kahle
"The Wizard" Reneau
Willard Schwarz

I wonder how many of those Yankees and Phillies players are gonna be there...those 5-6 WS rings helps!

No kidding I'm looking through and its' either the Yanks, teh Phils, and a sprinking of Tigers....were there no other teams?

On a side note, the one pitcher was the guy that we traded to get Skeeter Schaldemose, worked good for us I'd say

Were you gonna vote creed or just comment on everyone else? Seems like we get less and less voters each year so the more the merrier!

Weakest crop ever. A load of "good" players, but lacking in greats.

Fat Gus was one of my favs, and was one of the many good players on those great Yankees teams. But you have a player with 1500+ runs _and_ RBI, yet when you look at his leader board placements, you see a 7th in RBI, a 9th in RBI... and not *any* other placements in either the RBI or Run leader boards. He's one of those classic Start Young & Play Forever guys we're talking about. That he was at 3B is a plus. "Only" two GG doesn't really stand him out above the crowd. I like him a lot, but... was he really "great"?

By the way, why's everyone voting for Reneau this year? He never got more than 45% previously and now seems to be on everyone's ballot. What has changed your minds?

Well look at the Hall of Fame, jdw. Does it have all "great"s? What do you want, just a Hall of Fame with 10 people in it that no one can match. There are "greats" that no one can match, but there aren't enough of them to make it very interesting.

Yes, a perfect opportunity for some players to sneak in after just missing in previous seasons... Would've been a great time for Seifried & Ray of Light Brown to still be here. And to think it looks like even the VC won't vote them in. Wow.

Actually that's not true. We had more voters last year (or maybe the yr before) than ever. We usually get 12-18 or so votes. I think it's just that now, everyone jumps on it & it seems to end quicker than ever before. For example, we had 12 votes already within 10 hours of me posting this ballot. That's already enough votes for me to end the vote, wow! Of course, I'll let this ballot stay up all week and I hope we can garner even more votes. There are some TWB GM's that haven't voted yet & I hope they do.
