Also note that if the reliever gets that first out because of a fielder's choice (i.e., the original runner is retired at second but the batter reaches first), that new runner is the responsibility...

Not sure if it's a good strategy in this situation in OOTP, but it makes sense in real life, so I do it anyway.

Of...

I wonder if it would be possible (in an update) to disable the "position" button entirely, and have the primary position filled automatically by the computer based on games played (including the DH)....

I think it's possible for your child, with baseball skills, to retire, leading to a "Jr." in the next draft.

Can we give cookies to the players?

Not oreos, but can the game be redesigned so that each player carries a "cookie" that says which teams he won't play for -- something like a no-trade clause.

Maybe the cookie could last for 6...

Do you have scouts turned on? I wonder if the AI sees the "true" ratings which could be quite different than what you see.

In my unscientific experience (2 simmed years of OOTP6), it seems like Stuff is the primary factor for strikeouts, with Velocity the secondary factor.

By sorting the players, it seems like the...

One thing I haven't quite figured out is how the CPU sets the lineup when it does one of these subs. Sometimes the sub bats in the same spot in the order (even having a .230 hitter with no power...

I also loved Earl Weaver; a friend had it for the Amiga, so whenever I was...

That's not much different than Terrell Owens demanding $25 mil to play for Baltimore, but settling for a lot less to play in Philly.

Maybe your player just didn't like your team enough to sign at...

Manual speak

The manual for OOTP seems to be along the lines of manuals for many videogames -- it just gives the basic info, leaving you to discover all the little wonders of the game for yourself.

Or, more...

No save despite great 3-inning performance in playoffs

Usually, OOTP5 is pretty good at awarding 3-inning saves, but I can't figure out why this guy didn't get one. I'm wondering if it's because this was a playoff game (just a weird bug?). Or if the...

Manipulating for stats

It seems that this happens all the time in the MLB for Saves (but not wins).

Bringing in the closer with a 3 run lead in the 9th but not a 4 run lead seems completely arbitrary to me -- but that's...

This whole concept of paying trainers seems silly to me

Don't all major league teams already have top medical care? And injuries that don't heal as fast as expected?

What would a top-flight medical team cost? $500,000 million at most? Wouldn't everyone...
