Contract Demands
Has there been any changes in the way players determine their value during contract negotiations? I know this can be frustrating in online leagues, where a rival's star pitcher, with minimal loyalty, asks for and receives about half of what they would get on the open market.
Just wondering if there is any way that a player could look at the salaries of other players to determine what they should ask for. |

I definitely think this would be a huge improvement as far as on-line leagues are concerned.
Perhaps this could be done by assiging a player with an overall (hidden) 'salary rating' out of 100 (based upon ratings, stats from previous season, age and position). If the highest paid player in the league earned $20 mill, then a player rated 100 would ask for a similar amount - a player rated 50 would ask for $10 mill (ish), and a player rated 1 would ask for the league minimum. I know this is a bit simplified, but I'm just trying to show how it might be accomplished. |

I'm sure the star rating (based on how the player is compared to other players at his position) should have something to do with talent. I hope this year that performance has a lot more to do with salary.
I like the loyalty rating though and if they have high loyalty they sign for less to stay with the team. I like this idea.

One thing i see far too often in online leagues, is players rejecting large offers from their current team, then signing for MUCH less during FA. I offered a player 9 mil per year for 3 years, he rejects, then signes with another team for 3 mil in FA.

That's not much different than Terrell Owens demanding $25 mil to play for Baltimore, but settling for a lot less to play in Philly.
Maybe your player just didn't like your team enough to sign at his market value, but a lot more money would have talked him into it. Quote:

OOTP5 must currently take stats into consideration for contract demands or how else would you explain this.
My 35 year old 4 star pitcher in the last year of his contract currently making 8 Mil a year is asking for 17.2 Mil for 3 years. In fact it went up 2 Mil since the last time i checked. He has a 1.27 ERA midway through the season and several shutouts. |

Some guys just over value their own market value and get a reality check in FA.
