I suppose this COULD happen but Jim Thome retired in 2013 with 902 career homeruns. He hit 54 in his 2nd to final year in the big's and managed 39 in his final season.

I've gone beyond the 2015 season twice and both times, Jime Thome retired as the All-Time Home Run leader with around 830 career round trippers. Sammy usually ends up with close to 700 for me.
