Was doing a little experimenting....I simmed 2002 season, and then decided to move Tampa Bay to Charlotte in the NL East, Pittsburgh reassigned to NL East, Montreal to Washington DC and the AL East.... I clicked to the next season (2003), had the computer do signings and draftings, and then generated a season schedule, but it got totally wacky.. lost all interleague play, and had days off on Saturdays...I'm must be a complete idiot so could someone straighten me out here...I don't want to have to revert to working tonight!!! yikes..

Did you generate a new schedule after moving the teams around? This will cause that to happen. To my knowledge, nothing can be done about this. When you have the game generate a schedule for you, it does not include interleague games. On top of that, if you're adding or moving teams, you MUST generate a new schedule because using the old one could cause you much bigger problems, such as a team not being scheduled at all the entire season.

When I did this, the Rangers were scheduled to play an interleague schedule, all season. I wish Markus could fix this and the other problems associated with restructuring the league in the next patch/update, although I know he has plenty of other stuff keeping him busy, too. [ 04-18-2002, 10:35 PM: Message edited by: Psicosis ] |

That's more a problem with the schedule generator than anything. The schedule that you have ready-made seems to be based on a team's placement in the structure rather than anything else. So Team 5 is scheduled to play Teams 1-14 and not Teams 15-30. If you exchange Team 5 with Team 17, then Team 5 is STILL scheduled to play Teams 1-14. It's not really the game's fault, it's the fact that the schedule has been made already.
And then the schedule generator is really weak. It doesn't let you choose how many times teams play each other, if there's interleague play, and it doesn't know how to create staggered off-days. |

Well..I've never been a big fan of interleague play anyway...but now the question remains...will I have to just create custom schedules?? I mean, I would prefer that teams play each other in their own league an equal number of times, or perhaps slightly more games against teams in their own division....and then spread the rest equally (or nearly so) among teams in each of the other two divisions... Much agree that the algorithm for this needs drastic repair.... Any other suggestions out there??

Wait a couple of days and use the third party schedule generator, if you really can't stand the OOTP generator.

Well..I just encountered another glitch...seems that, for instance, the calendar for 2003 is off. March 31st is actually on a Monday...and April 1 is on a Tuesday...however OOTP4 insists that 4/1 occurs on a Monday.....and my schedules are really bizarre...going into the second week of October in some cases....

It's a nuisance, but that solves the problem of days and dates not matching. |
