I have just had the second crash while trying to do a 1901-2005 sim. I don't know which details to give. I play on Vista Home Premium (32-bit OS) I have a Pentium 4 2.60 GhZ machine with 1.50 giggs of ram I have 90 gig of free hard drive space on the drive OOTP is installed. I let the sim run through the night. By all accounts, it worked fine until 1968. When I went this morning, there was a text box saying "OOTP has stopped working". The only option was to close the programme. I rebooted, restarted the game and the sim, but it crashed again before the end of 1968. Any ideas?

Make that three crashes. I definitely can't get past 1968. LOL (Makes me sound like a hippie!)

No problem... Well a few Can you recommend a good freeware zip utility. I usually unzip, not zip. And then which file specifically. I presume the game file under save games, but I just want to make sure. And thirdly, I will only be able to do it after 20:00 GMT tonight, after I get home. Cheers |

The best thing to do is to get your save game to a state where we can crash it immediately upon loading
Zip up the whole dir using 7-zip or freezip and follow the ftp instructions at the top of this forum. Post here when done (with the filename) and we'll grab the file, get it logged and hopefully get it fixed |

I had the same issue at one point and it was because I didn't have "hold expansion draft checked when I had the automatically expand league box checked. Try and that and resim, then it should work

I don't do historicals but wouldn't it make sense for the game to auto-check that other box if you opt to do an expansion draft?

I've run into the exact same problem. I've tried on five seperate occasions to sim from 1901 to 2007. Just after the World Series in 1968 (I believe the date is October 8th, 1968), the SISA Scouting box comes up. It gets to 100% and then crashes. I've tried re-downloading the Lahman database but no joy. I will sim up until the last day of the World Series and then upload the saved game to the server but I'm unsure of the address to upload to. What is it?
At any rate, I'm glad it's not just me. That makes me feel better. ![]() BTW, I'm running on Windows XP Home on a 2.0 Ghz Pentium M with 1 GB of RAM. Thanks. Edit: Nevermind the FTP question. I didn't see the sticky. Gonna start uploading soon.

FYI for the testers, the game actually crashes while trying to sim October 10th, 1968. The saved game that I am uploading is currently on October 8th, 1968.

I have downloaded the file, and the league works perfectly here. I am using a standard 5.4 Lahman DB.

I just simmed through the 1968 season without an issue. Could it be with how you guys set up the league? I used the wizard to create the league and I opted to just use a reserve roster rather than minor leagues.
I noticed 2 teams are added to MLB in 1969. Could that be the issue? http://www.brucem.net/BB_Chrono.htm Maybe something gets messed up when you add two teams with whatever settings you are using? In my test the game signed coaches and souts on 10/11 and did the expansion draft on 10/13.

Yeah, my league is set up to run with reserve rosters. I'm set up the league again from scratch and I'm gonna try to sim though again and see what happens. Maybe there was something wrong with the quick start league I was using.

Okay, I'm still gettting the crash in 1968. Here's the process I go through when I set up the league.
1. Game - Create New Game 2. Create Historical League 3. Select database; Input year (1901); select import complete history 4. Name league; Change team names and cities (no changes) 5. Minor league selection screen (no minor leagues selected; require full minor leagues systems unchecked) 6. Recalculated player ratings (checked); Automatically expand league (checked); Hold expansion draft (unchecked); Enable automatic import of financial settings (checked) 7. FaceGen screen (no fictional pictures for players and coaches) 8. Add manager screen (input my details; start unemployed; play in commissioner mode checked; name league; enter starting year as 1901 9. Game gets created 10. After game is created, I go into Game -> Game Setup 11. Click on the League Setup tab 12. Click on Rules tab 13. Uncheck Amatuer Draft checkbox After that I start simming and then the game always crashes after the World Series in 1968. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I don't understand why the game would expand the league just fine in 1962 but then crash in 1968. I've tried re-downloading the Lahman DB but that didn't work either. Should I try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game? Thanks.

Can you try checking this: Hold expansion draft
When I ran my test I had that checked and it worked. I think I had the same settings as you list above for everything else.

Ahh.. you know what, that's probably it. Since the players only import to their original teams when they make their debut, it doesn't make sense that I should not an have an expansion draft because some of the players chosen won't be with their original teams. I'll betcha that fixes it. Duh. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks!
