You might want to try installing OOTP to a directory different than your Documents directory. Or move your custom data path (Settings > Expert > Custom Data Path) outside of your Documents folder. The reason why is you can't exclude subdirectories in your Documents from OneDrive, you can only exclude all of it or none of it, and so if you install OOTP somewhere OneDrive doesn't backup, then it can't touch your OOTP files. If you instead want to exclude main directories from OneDrive's backup, like all of Documents, then open OneDrive Settings via the taskbar icon, go to Sync and Backup > Manage Backup and set as many of the toggles to "not backed up" as you want.

Though it might not be a bad idea. I am not completely against onedrive if i had more control over it. It just seems like Microsoft decides what and when i will save. Sometimes i went to my onedrive storage and had no idea some stuff was saved and other stuff wasn't. I just don't trust it. |

I think i narrowed down the problem for me.
I won't assume its the same for everyone. I believe the reason the game was slowing down for me was one or all of the audience settings were too high. Audience detail, Audience Resolution and Shadows Samples. I may have changed them when i was messing with the fonts. I did an uninstall but i noticed the ootp folder was still in my documents after i had uninstall the game. Maybe the those settings remained when reinstalling the game? Not sure. I uninstalled the game again and made sure the ootp folder was deleted. I reinstalled the game and played the game without any problems. I deleted the league file and then copied my save leagued back to the saved games folder. Restarted ootp and set all those settings i mentioned to max. Sure enough the choppiness returned. In fact it actually slowed down my whole pc. I had to close the game from taskmanger and it took some time before i could close the task. Another problem i'm seeing is that the game doesn't seem to release the license. I released the license but when i restart the game it plays as if i never released the license. Not sure what's going on there |

I don't see "the game slows down after 40 minutes" at all. I do continue to see a leak/slowdowns when you release a lot of players at one time. I've reported this bug but it's kind of specific - I think it only applies when the human GM does the releasing and IME it's the kind of thing that only really has an effect when you are, for example, in god mode and it's cut-down day at the end of spring training (so, like, an issue for virtually nobody else but me haha). Otherwise, man, I am not seeing that at all.
The issue of OneDrive annoyingly saving all 5 billion little tiny files to the cloud sounds like it might be the issue there and, frankly, this is going to be an issue with any program you use. Asking a smaller developer to work around Microsoft being an ass seems like the wrong thing to do to me but YMMV. Also, of course, I have the audience settings goosed up but my device can handle it. You're going to want to tailor the settings of the game to your own device. The 3D stuff in particular can be pretty processor and memory intensive (and perhaps that compounds, and perhaps in ways the devs can't easily track since they didn't directly build the 3D). Anyway, not to sound like a jerk or anything but I think this might be one place where there are limited things the developers can do without, like, making massive changes to the way games are saved and so on.

Just trying to eliminate it from a possible source of the problem. As far as i can see i don't have one drive running. I don't believe releasing players is a cause at all. I have not released any players since im using historical transactions. The problem would happen anytime i watched a league game. I built this system last year. Here are the specs. Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 265K (3.90 GHz). 64.0 GB DDR5 Ram Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 The game is installed on a Samsung SSD 990 EVO Plus 1TB with 503GB of free space. Now its not gonna run an entire data center but i think it should be more than capable of handling ootp. Am i blaming OOTP? Not at all and i don't think most others are either. But it is a problem for some of us and i think we are just looking for a solution. |

Well, I guess I was wrong about the audience settings. I set everything to low, and the problem still occurs.
I also found that if i close ootp during a game and then go back into the live game everything is till sluggish. However if i just sim the game and go to the next game everything is back to normal. Whenever the problem in ootp happens my desktop gets slow as well. It takes 10-15 seconds when right clicking on an icon before i see a menu. I haven't been very happy with windows 11 25h2 so i would not rule it out. I don't think its hardware related as i don't have this issue with other games. Could Advanced Stats be adding too much data during a game? I don't know. Just trying to find an answer. Maybe ill have to sim this championship series and see if it happens in my next sim season. |

I just can't help but think that for, at least some people, the root cause isn't OOTP, but that OOTP just makes whatever the problem is far more noticeable. Like your not fully getting rid of OneDrive, it's probably working on something in the background. Or something else is indexing files causing a slow down (have you checked this post out?). Do you have any startup programs or services running that you really don't need running? Have you tried disabling facegen (not that you should have to, but it does sound like a common culprit of OOTP issues)?

Tried from a cold boot and the problem still happened.
Tried to make a video but it makes my whole pc sluggish. I did find that it seems to play normal with other saves. I created a 2025 league and everything worked. So i saved the league in case i think of something to try later on. I simmed game 2 of the series and was able to watch the rest of the games without any problems. I moved on to the next season and so far on opening day i don't have any problems. Think i'm gonna have to chalk it up to a corrupted save. Though i still don't know why it slowed my whole pc down. Even after ending the game in task manager. |

Are there any different assets in that save causing problems, like modded stadiums or something? Anything that would create some type of endless processing loop that ties the system up that doesn't exist in that freshly created save?
Just spitballing here. |

Ballcaps, ballparks, jerseys, etc. Seems like it would mess up on other league saves. Or it might only happen in games that are played out as it can't in simmed games. Or maybe it can when you watch a replay. Anyway I'll keep a look out and try to hold on to that problem save. I'm just glad I dont have to start over. |

There's a thread here with both some suggestions that have worked for folks with similar problems, and further discussions and troubleshooting for folks still having similar issues, that we're monitoring as we look into this.

We did find an issue that was causing crashes (not lag though) when watching replays in PT. That had to do with the PT cards, so unlikely that specific issue was happening for you.
Still, we'll have to take a closer look if there might be something linked to this in the base game.

I mentioned elsewhere too, but based on some stuff we're seeing, it's possible there may be some screen re-draw related weirdness that may not be fullscreen vs widowed per say, but is generally better in fullscreen.
The issue possibly being with standard vs non-standard (especially more widescreen) resolutions. So if you're having the lag issues, you may want to try either using fullscreen, or using a more standard resolution (not one that's wide-screen or wide-screen adjacent), if possible and see if that helps.

I did some testing on that on my multi-monitor setup and found no visible difference. I play windowed by default, but full experienced the same problems.
I've also done testing on a single-monitor setup and found the latency issues much improved. A "stale" windows boot will still result in choppiness, but not to a completely game-breaking extent. |

I'm not saying you have to resign yourself to slow performance. FWIW I don't see slowdown issues on my PC, granted that I a. just bought it new last year and b. I don't sim forward years or whatever at a time (although when I was doing so for the beta it felt as fast as ever TBH). I'm saying that the fix on the OOTP side of things, especially if the issue is OneDrive/the Documents folder, is going to be really, really tough. I also FWIW found OneDrive to be a massive PITA to just turn off (I had the additional issue that it was trying to store literal gigabytes of data into the cloud and wanted me to pay extra for the privilege). I wish there was a quicker and easier answer to this.

Onedrive is nothing more than a grift. You can get rid of it altogether. There are videos and walk throughs to lead you through the process. It's more than just deleting it. I've done it and am so happy I took the time to do it. My game runs more smoothly thru pages when I click. Plus, I'm in control of my downloads and document folder. The way it should be.
