WorldWide Federation

I’ve been building fictional worlds in OOTP for a while, but finally decided to share one.
The idea is that baseball was invented in the year 2000 in the wake of Y2K. These are the first ever teams. Baseball is the only sport.
A lot of team names will look familiar. Some are current names, some are from other sports, some are old names, some are random references. In-universe, they have their own meaning, but I don’t really care about that too much. Out of universe, it’s just me having fun with it, but I try to keep it reasonable, I try.
I’ve already simmed about 15 years, but I’m starting the thread back at the beginning (2000). From there I’ll keep things updated as I go with standings, playoffs, league changes, new teams, new leagues, whatever happens.

Most posts will be:
  • Standings
  • Playoff brackets
  • League updates

If something interesting happens, I’ll post it. If not, I’ll keep it moving.

I sim pretty fast. My main walkthrough is:
  1. Record standing results
  2. Box score watch playoff games
  3. Investigate further into game logs for close/extra inning/walk-off games
  4. Assign teams to tournaments
  5. Repeat

I might check drafts sometimes, but not much.

Who Am I
Long time lurker. Been playing since around OOTP17.

The forums honestly took my interest in this game from like a 50 to an 80. This is my attempt at building a full FIFA-style world.

I had a Substack going for an OOTP 26 save, but that file broke during expansion so I dropped it. Check my signature if you'd like, very similar format here, with less writing. (That was a lot of ChatGPT writing)

Goal is to build something cool and highlight the people who make this game better.

If you want to be included, just say something. If you have ideas, send them.

Credits / Shoutouts

I’ve made a lot, but taken way more from others. If I used something of yours and missed you, tell me and I’ll add you. I never planned to post this publicly, so I didn’t track sources well, my apolgies.
I’ve got 30,000+ logos/caps/jerseys sitting in a folder right now. I’ll figure out a way to share that later.
If you want your work featured, I’m open to it as long as it fits.

American League

Introducing the American League.

The AL begins play in 2000, the same year baseball is created. At the start, it is the top league in the world, with players allowed from all over.

10 teams. 2 divisions. No history, no legacy, just starting from zero.

Structure
Teams: 10
Divisions: 2 (East / West)
Player Pool: Global (for now)
AL East
Chicago Blue Collars — named after the working-class identity of Chicago
Boston Bees — former nickname of the (then Boston) Braves
Washington Grays — honoring the Homestead Grays
Miami Gators — Back to the Future II reference
Brooklyn Dodgers — Dodgers back where they belong

AL West
San Francisco Seals — former PCL team name
Seattle Aquasox — inspired by the Everett AquaSox
Phoenix Serpientes — “Arizona Diamondbacks” in a different timeline
Los Angeles Angels — too perfect of a name to change (new logo though)
Hill Country Skyhawks — split Austin / San Antonio team (not in-game, but in spirit, happy if someone could show me how to do this)

Playoffs:
4 teams make the playoffs. 2 division winners + 2 wildcards. 4 team single elimination bracket. Division winners get top 2 seeds + get 1 higher seed advantage (they start with an bonus win).
Semifinals: Bo7 1A 2H 1A 2H
American League Championship Series: Bo7 2H 3A 2H

Draft Lottery:
6 slots for 6 teams.
  1. 100 balls
  2. 75 balls
  3. 50 balls
  4. 25 balls
  5. 15 balls
  6. 10 balls

American League: 2000

The first season of the American League with the Washington Grays finishing on top of the table at 68–52. Out west, the Los Angeles Angels take the division at 65–55. Both wildcard spots go to west division teams with the Hill Country Skyhawks (64–56) earning the spots Phoenix Serpientes (61–59).

Hill Country handles LA pretty easily, taking the series 4–1. The Angels’ only win comes from the higher seed advantage. Phoenix pushes Washington all the way to Game 7, but the Grays survive. In the final, the Skyhawks take down Washington in another Game 7.

American League: 2001

The second season, and the West is already taking over.

The Phoenix Serpientes finish as table champions at 71–49. Hill Country Skyhawks (68–52) & San Francisco Seals (63–57) finish as the two wildcards this season.
However, in the East, the race is tight between Boston and Brooklyn. Both finished 61-59, but Boston would win the tiebreaker game and finish 62-59 over the Dodgers' 61-60.

Boston would take that momentum with them into the playoffs vs 3 west division teams. They beat the defending champs, HCS, 4-2, and followed that up with a victory over Phoenix, 4-2, in the ALCS.

American League: 2002

The West stays strong, but the East finally shows up.

The San Francisco Seals take the West at 71–49.
The Phoenix Serpientes grab a wildcard spot at 66–54.

In the East, the Washington Grays dominate, finishing 77–43.
The Brooklyn Dodgers take the second wildcard at 67–53.

Both division winners handle business early in the playoffs. San Francisco beats Phoenix 4–1. Washington beats Brooklyn 4–1.

That sets up Seals vs Grays in the ALCS. But San Francisco runs them over winning 4–1.

American League: 2003

The East proves they are the new conference on top, sending 3 teams to the playoffs against the 2003 table winner, and 2002 bracket champion, the San Francisco Seals (72–48).

The Boston Bees win the division at 71–49, with the Washington Grays right behind at 69–51, and the Brooklyn Dodgers taking the final spot at 66–54.

Boston can’t carry their regular season into October, only managing one real win as Washington takes the series 4–2. On the other side, San Francisco handles Brooklyn 4–2.

That sets up a rematch between the Seals and Grays, after San Francisco won 4–1 in 2002. This time it goes the distance, with all 7 games needed, but San Francisco gets it done again.

The Seals secure the first double trophy season and go back-to-back as bracket champions.

Bracket Champion: San Francisco Seals (2)
Table Champion: San Francisco Seals
