20-grade logos

After six years playing this game, I am finally trying to learn how to make logos. Thanks so much to everyone here on this board for the logos that I have been using over the years, particularly ruwisc, hurricanekevin, txranger, low, thebananabandit, golem64, omniart, and isedelyod (from who I can remember).

**** if you are reading this thread for the first time, the logos get better. Maybe skip ahead a few pages. And I am very willing to do alternate or updated versions (another city name, for instance)***

Merida Dragonflies / Libélulas de Mérida

This is from a sfgiants58 design that I cut out and posted in the other thread. I googled "Chichen Itza clip art" and moved the Rays to Merida, Yucatan.

added new small versions with the Angel of Independence

* deleted this since it was so early in the process, I basically used someone else's entire logo design and just put words over it. New version here in page 12 of this thread

Now I can't imagine anyone else would ever use this, but it amuses me to name a minor league team after this novel that I really enjoyed. (You'll recall from the novel that while the duck-related incident happened in Newburyport MA, the novel itself takes place in Newcomerstown OH, so I have included both versions.)

This kind of came out looking like a Halloween nightmare instead of Anne of Green Gables, but I am literally watching tutorials on like "how to cut and paste in gimp" rn. Hopefully I will go back and replace some of these.

It has to be green and red because of the novel, and I downloaded an "arts and crafts movement font" to go with it, but it looks more like a fright font. Or faux-Japanese. idk.

I like mess with the minor league teams. This could replace the Buffalo Bison or New Hampshire Fisher Cats (both Toronto affiliates), or it could be a Montreal farm team.

This year activist Wilma Mankiller is being honored on US currency, it seemed fitting to name a team after her. The Mankillers can replace the Tulsa Drillers in the game. Logo elements are all taken from the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma flag; the Cherokee text is taken directly from wikipedia.

Thanks to hurricanekevin: because he made a logo for a team located in the Navajo Nation, I ended up reading a lot of wikipedia pages.

I am 35 years old, my six month old child is napping, and this is my logo concept that I have made for a fictional baseball team based on a Bruce Springsteen lyric

Replaces the Somerset Patriots in the game. Based in Freehold, New Jersey.

I made two versions, one incorporating the additional lyric "talk talk talk talk"

Having grown up in NJ, the turnpike logo caught my eye. never thought I'd see that associated with Baseball/OOTP but hey, here we are! Exit 9 woo woo! :P

Since I was messing around with the Nashville Bluegrass in the other thread, I made myself a Bill Monroe themed minor league team to replace the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Who knows where OOTP will take you? This is the cover of "Walls of Time" that I like.

*Rosine and nearby Horse Branch are too small to appear in the game, so this team is based in nearby Beaver Dam, KY

Here are some minor league teams for Merida, helpfully in Rays colors. Logos are from two lower level Mexican soccer teams. Several different versions could be useful. I also cropped up small logos for them.

Videos (and if you can afford them some of the classes available online like LinkedIn Learning) are so worth the time. GIMP can be a little funky sometimes so the videos are really helpful to work out what is a challenge of the program and what is something you just need to learn how to do.

If you've never used these GIMP tools, you might want to check them out. They were a game changer for me when it came to creating circular text. https://gimp-tools.sourceforge.net/

They require a bit of understanding of GIMP but once you figure it out they are fantastic. *I've been using Adobe Illustrator more recently so I'm not up-to-date on GIMP so I'm not totally sure if these tools work with the newer versions of GIMP.
