You can globally release all of the players in a league level. Were you messing around in the AAA league options?

He is shortlisted by you. Right click his name and select remove from shortlist or unshortlist. I cannpt remember the name of the option. Names in CAPS are players on shortlists.

News reports are written and saved. I doubt any messages will be updated. Leaderboards may be because they change so they are called and populated. It will depend on how OOTP saves the screen you are...

I think the only way to remove the cap is to remove arbitration. I cannot be certain but I think the salary jump that happens at arb time screws up the cap completely.
