Player is under contract for longer than I agreed
Hey, first post. I tried to search this issue but can't find anyone here with the same issue.
I am playing a fictional league and had a SP that was a stud but aging. When he was 32 years old I signed him to short term 3yr/$72mil extension knowing he was probably about to decline. That was prior to the year 2019 season. So it should expire after 2021 season. Well, now that I am in the year 2021, his contract status shows he had signed a 3/72 deal prior to the 2021 season as well, which I never negotiated. When I go under the "History" tab in his profile it only lists the extension I signed him to prior to 2019 and nothing in 2021. This is a huge problem because his decline has started and now he is a 3 star player. I cant afford to be paying that kind of money to this guy for 3 more years. I have no idea how this happened? Any help?? |

Does your Assistant GM have the ability to sign players?

You know what... That is entirely possible now that I think about it. Ugh, pretty new to this game. I guess learned the hard way there. I assumed the extension would replace the current contract. I'm not positive that is what happened but it would make sense.

Contract extensions always extend the current contract. They don't replace them. Make sure to keep that in mind when negotiating an extension. You can always go in and edit the contract if you want to fix an honest mistake.
