Whole minor league team released to FA?

I'm entering the fourth offseason as GM of a historical Padres sim I have. On the first day of the offseason ("Offseason starts" on the calendar) I meant to look at upcoming free agents, but accidentally clicked on the Free Agent tab. It was a fortunate mistake though, as there I saw my 4.5 star potential SP prospect listed and asking for a 3 million dollar contract. And then my top reliever prospect. And Manny Machado, who I had recently called up to AAA at the end of the season. More or less my whole triple A squad were free agents for some reason. It wasn't a difficult fix as I just had to turn GM mode on and reassign them to my club and look at playing time to correct the number of option years available.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this? Did I accidentally do something to induce this? Can I prevent it in the future or is it just a glitch?

Was it only your AAA team that released players?
You can globally release all of the players in a league level. Were you messing around in the AAA league options?

No it was just my team. I didn't even have commissioner mode on until after the fact so I don't think I could've done that

Are you using historical minors? If so, did your AAA affiliate change/move?

Did you try and release one player, but click the radio button to select all and not realize it?

Yes and yes. The team moved after the 2013 season

The simulation SHOULD move the players with the team or at least keep them within the same organization, but it doesn’t work that way. Instead, all of the players are released. Hopefully, this problem (whether it be a bug or a design decision) will be addressed in OOTP19.

Update:

Following the next season (lost in blowout in game 7 of NLDS) and I'm into the beginning of the free agency period, and of course, I find my gem prospect SP in free agent pool again! So I go to look at my Triple A roster to see if the rest of the team has been sent to FA again, and what do I find? Nothing! My triple A team didn't even exist. Somehow, someway or another, the whole team was deleted, leaving me without a triple A team, and again releasing all of the players who were on it at the season's end into free agency. What gives? Fixing this is becoming a chore and is making me really want to ditch this save

. I don't touch anything with the minor leagues besides sending players up and down. Why does stuff like this keep on happening

Has these sort of shenanigans been reported as a bug by anyone? If it does not get reported it won't get fixed.

I just tried this myownself and it worked just peachy once in a row so I am not going to be able to be a reporter on this issue.

The developers are still addressing bugs in 18? Since I don’t have access to the developer list of known bugs (fixed or not), how can I know if anyone has reported this as a bug? Maybe someone who does have access could check and let us know.

after a search (in which i didn't spend more than 20 mins.) - with a few different titles - the only one i found that was relevant was this post: (needs to be on beta team to access link so i didn't post it.)

This appears to be a "rare" bug
The "user can fix it" but the how is not in mitchkenn's post
It is a ootp17.12.75 bug not ootp18 so it is a couple of versions old
"League files are needed" to address it but have never been sent.

I'd say all that adds up to that it still needs to be reported but maybe that's just me and it will magically get fixed using some sort of extra-sensory portal to a dimension beyond sight and sound. Unicorns may be involved!

i posted this on beta board as a reminder (to at least myself) to test when 19 comes out, to see if it's a world wide bug or something else ....

I don't think the bug posted above is the same thing at all actually. Unless I'm reading things wrong, which is possible

So no, this hadn't really been reported as far as I can see. It doesn't typically happen, best I can tell it's only happening for some reason under very rare circumstances. So we'd have to figure out just what those circumstances are.

I do recall a couple reports of this happening in 17, but it should've been fixed for 18. So to the op, is this in OOTP18?

If so, I think we'll need the league files to take a look at this, if possible a file from both before and after this happens would be great. If not, just after should be ok. Instructions on uploading them are in my sig, but you can also just upload them to Dropbox or another sharing site and send me the link.

Under normal circumstances, what happens to the players when an affiliate moves or ceases operation?

They should just switch to another level of the parent team's minors, then when the new team is added, the minors will get resorted and all levels get filled with players again, which should mean most of the guys will go back to the same level they were at before, with a few guys getting demotions/promotions.

They certainly shouldn't get released though!
