I have a feeling he got the minimum simply because he was eligible to receive it once his contract would renew. using default ootp settings, players are eligibile for minimum 3years then 3 years...

That has happened to me as well. When trades process, sometimes players end up on the correct team, sometimes some in the deal will stay on their old team.... some players just magically...
