Stanley Kuppchaser

It is with great sadness that I share that Mark Glazewski, know to us as Stanley Kuppchaser has passed away after an illness on March 8th, two days after his 70th birthday.

Those who have played in Our League know that he was a large part of the glue that kept OL alive. As a member and statistician myself, Mark and I often shared messages on Saturday mornings, and we became internet friends to some degree. Besides his love as baseball, Willie Mays and the New York Rangers, he was a rock solid family man whose love of family jumped off the page when I read messages.

Mark's son shared this picture with me, and with their blessing I have posted it. Before the Port Ruppert Mundy's, one of his OL teams, back in 1995 he and friend ran the Port Ruppert Crabs in a Strat-O-Matic league (which if memory serves was a play by mail league). Each year his friend would come on draft day and they would have have a Crab Fest while planning their draft which took place by phone. Wonder if he was trying to make a deal for Mays in this picture?

Rest in Peace Mark

from the various team logos (for his own teams as well as other PT players), to the OL tier crowns, to plenty of other graphical content, his additions to the game definitely helped bring things to life. He will definitely be missed around here. While I have enjoyed (and still do) playing PT, his OL creation made it even more fun, and added an extra layer of interest (especially during those seasons where your team had no shot at the playoffs in the regular league, but played well enough against OL competition to compete for a crown there).

as his favorite player was Willie Mays, I took a crack at a memorial patch that can be added to uniform sleeves/etc. Just replaced the 24 on the back with SK. Probably not up to par with Stanley's work, but it's something.

Just saw this My condolences to the family. I only knew Stanley through the PT/OL leagues I took part in, but he was definitely the "glue" as Edster007 has said. He will be missed.

My condolences to both OL and Mark's family. This is a big loss in the Perfect Team community. While I usually didn't catch up too much on OL, I saw frequently that Stanley Kuppchaser would appear quite often in those threads. He will be quite missed.

I'm saddened to hear of the passing of our pal Mark. It was an honor to stand alongside him and the rest of the Our League group the past few years. A good, honorable man, he will be missed for sure.

Thanks for everything Mark. Say hi to my dad up there for me will ya?

This is very sad news. Thank you for sharing it with us, though, Edster. I shall be paying my respect. I loved Mark's anecdotes, humor, artwork, writeups, and everything else. His character shone through, and he put a smile on my face many times. Must be a huge loss for his loved ones.

Rest in Peace.

Like many others, very sorry to hear this. I, too, only knew Mark through his interactions as Stanley Kuppchaser in OL. But even in our limited interactions, you could sense his kindness and generosity.

Though I only have one team currently in PT, they will immediately be rechristened as the Stephensville Bears in honor of Mark. (He expressed a few times his fondness of the Bears' rivalry with his Muddville Muffins.)

The thought crossed my mind yesterday... if we restart the OL sometime this year, we should rename the weekly OL awards to the "Stanley Kupp" in honor of our dear friend. And its design should somehow include Groucho Marks.

RIP to the Stan the Man of PT. As an OL member the first couple of seasons I seen the joy, respect and dedication that you gave to the Great Game of Baseball. You will be missed here.

My prayers are with your Family as they struggle to adjust to your loss. Goodbye, rest well.

I was thinking the same thing about the Stanley Kupp.

I'm all for trying for a 6th OL season, but won't have the time as in previous years to keep up with stats (would be more like the stretch run of last version where we were just updating on Sunday with the final results)... also would toss this out for consideration... while the 5 previous runs of OL were strictly historical cards (no Lives/Future Legends/"current year" cards), would there be any issues/concerns with including all/any cards?

figure that might have a chance of drawing in more participants, which always makes separate leagues like that more fun (and this year's Waffletown Syrups still have 6 Live cards on the active roster, so there's that too )

edit: and I'd leave the design/creation of the Stanley Kupp artwork to the more artistic members

Personally I'd like to stick with the historical cards. I have two other teams that will be using "all" cards - and as the year moves forward, we'll have mostly historical rosters anyway since they are better in the long run.

If we do it, maybe just add our '-OL' designation and when we have enough teams to qualify in the same league we can start reporting results. Maybe even add a link to the league rules in our signatures so anyone can join up as we move forward.

I am all for historical cards and that's how my team would be built, but I am not opposed to F2P being the only rule as at least likeminded players being connected. I am starting my team this week and would be willing to contribute stats at a minimum on Sunday's as I have in the past.
