New Patch, New Issues

I figured we should have a separate thread for this.

I just had my first OOTP crash since the initial release version. It was during a save, and it was of the "OOTP2007.exe needs to close. Would you like to send an error report?" variety. I reopened OOTP, and saving worked just fine this time.

XP Home
1GB Ram
Plenty of HD space

Do you remember at what point during the save it crashed?

Unfortunately, I had Firefox in the foreground, so I couldn't see. It was toward the end (probably 75-85% judging by the sliver of the progress bar I could still see.)

I always love to fix crashes, but unless we can reproduce this a little more specifically, we have like ZERO shot at finding this one.

The league is running fine, and saves just fine now, so it must have been an anomaly. Regardless, now we have a thread for this sort of thing.

I guess the full version of OOTP doesn't have the flags, it gives me the error

"NATION::import_flag_image - unable to move down into nation_flags directory"

if I click on New Game. It went away when I copied the flag images from my regular folder into my beta folder.

I didn't see this in the list, but I'm positive I remember this being discussed.

Is there any way to make the game remember when you switch it to one-pitch mode? It'd be nice to not have to set it every time I play a game.

I couldn't get Import Entire History to work for 1991, it would freeze up on Importing Players at 0%. 1930 worked though. I'll try to pinpoint what the threshold is. I closed everything but the essentials to the computer and OOTP 2007.

I have a 448 MB of RAM, a 2.1 GHz AMD Athlon 3000+ processor, Windows XP, HP Pavillion.

It's likely the RAM. 1991 probably has significantly more players than did 1930...

Yep, it's the RAM. I have 1 GB of RAM and can only import full history to 1946.

I think this should probably be fixed before the patch is released

Thanks,

I am 99% certain that's how it works. Can someone confirm?

I do know, however, that this is the reason why the Cubs didn't lose the #3 pick in the most recent MLB draft after signing Soriano (or was it Lilly?) this past off-season.

Which blows. The compensation pick was one of the main reasons I didn't personally try to re-sign Soto. Oh well, it turns out it was a gamble I lost. Life goes on.

That said, OOTP shouldn't have told me I got the pick when I didn't. Sigh. I think they fixed the compensation thing to be in line with MLB rules w/ OOTP 2007 but didn't notice/consider/change the notification of compensation thing.

Alas, poor Dover. My plans for a quick turn around just took a turn for the worse

Pick well, Waterbury, you magnificent bastards
Seems like the notification needs to be fixed.

"Seems like the notification needs to be fixed."

It has been fixed. The notification now warns that the first half of the first round is protected from compensation. Far from ideal- a first rounder should roll down to a second rounder when possible.

Not sure if this is patch-related, but I've never seen it before, and I searched "schedule" on the forum and saw nothing similar, so ...

I've created two different fictional organizations, both of which had the following as part of the setup:

Major League: Start season on Monday, date to shoot for April 1.

AAA/AA/A: Start season on Monday, date to shoot for April 8 (I like to give the majors a head start, don't ask me why because I don't know).

Rookie League: Start season on Monday, date to shoot for July 15 (a month after the mid-season draft).

In both of the orgs, all five leagues started play on Sunday, April 1, 2001 (the year is correct, but nothing else is).

Tried using a pre-fab template, and figured out the problem. Schedule doesn't reflect changes until regeneration takes place. I have no idea why this doesn't happen for Year One, but for Year Two of my pre-fab org, the schedules were as they should be. I also unchecked the "matching XML" box, which may have had something to do with it.

This (picture 1) happened after starting the game up... I tried restarting and it's still like this.

After I hit Game Preferences, it gave me picture 2.

The 2nd stable patch is still normal.

Do you ever use system standby?

I'm out of ideas.

I ran into one of these using Cubby's roster set. It was during facegen generation of a pictureless player's photo (after clicking on Scores & Schedules).
