Oakland followed by Anaheim, you can count the Rangers out from now on.

I'm thinking the A's.

The Rangers should be very happy with their performance this year. It's much, much better than anyone expected. I don't think they'll be in it at the very end, though.

Just look here to see what the initial thoughts were this year.

I think to make playoffs someone will have to win the west. I don't think a Wild Card comes from there since Oakland, Anaheim, and Texas will be beating up on each other to end the season while Boston gets to play the weaker East teams.

My homer pick wants me to pick Texas, but I think Oakland edges them out with all 3 teams finishing something like within 3 games of each other.

Playoff odds by baseballprospectus:

http://www.baseballprospectus.com/st...cs/ps_odds.htm

AL West Div WC Total
Anaheim 23.4% 12.4% 35.8%
Oakland 66.9% 6.8% 73.7%
Seattle 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%
Texas 9.6% 8.2% 17.8%

Remaining strength of schedule and the performance so far are considered. It probably overrated teams that lost significant players lately, like the White Sox, and underrated teams that got significant helps half way through the season.

I say the Angels, of course I may be biased...
