This reminds me -- here is something we Mac users would like to see, text-to-speech implemented as it has been in Windows systems. Any chance of that happening soon?

The problem with that is the windows text to speech has been classified as experimental for years and years now and has not been touched at all. There have been MASSIVE gains in text to speech that now even a simple app on your phone that uses text to speech pronunciations is infinitely better than the ancient text to speech found in ootp. This is such low hanging fruit I can't imagine why they haven't touched it.

The new coaching chemistry system could use beefing up.
Feeders could use beefing up.
Heck, maybe getting rid of the Curtis Borkholder bug could use attention. I still see that happen in my saves.

It's still the best baseball sim around. But to imply the GM experience is evolving at the same pace it did many years ago is not accurate.

BTW I'm not saying that I feel it's getting stale because of graphics. I don't necessarily think it's one or the other. I just don't think the mode that was the bread and butter of the franchise for over a decade is evolving much anymore. You're free to agree to disagree.
Ok so I'm not an OOTP critic and I'm not an OOTP fan boy either I'm a centrist but I have to admit the standard 1-2 punch that OOTP employs is let's release this new feature that everyone wanted, we'll give 1 version of fixes and maybe an improvement or two and let's move on. Seen it for years.

But...that wasn't the only thing done. You said the GM Trade AI being overworked was the "one a year" change, then went on to list other potential changes you would have liked and included an improvement to another *major* item they added this year (coaching).

While everyone has their own wishes about the GM parts of the game, I just hope that it doesn’t get so complicated that it makes the game less enjoyable. I actually don’t like the changes to the trade AI. And I have never really been interested in going in and setting ticket prices and media contract prices or anything like that. Probably the most enjoyable part of the game for me comes from the drafting and development of minor league players.

I don’t want to be spending my time on ticket prices or concessions. As long as those items can be “automated” so the game user has a choice, then I am fine. Just don’t over complicate things and make sure that those items can be turned off if desired.

Simply put, it's easier to market and sell the game with its 3D visuals than it is to sell AI improvements.

For new players, the management side of things is already deep enough to satisfy them, as they don't realize that things have been a little bit stale for the veterans the last few years. I don't exactly blame them for choosing this path, but I agree, I would rather the game not have 3D at all if meant a deeper GM mode, but I know that I am in the minority for most OOTP players.

I do not want this - at all.

I'll play "Button Mash ETREMEESZ BASEBALLS" on the XBox if I want to look at this crap.

So because the game would have the same graphics as a button mashing game you think by default it becomes a button mashing game? The only nod to a video arcade game has been the ability to press the space bar to try and hit a home run during the home run derby. Hardly a slippery slope.

I’m having a difficult time wrapping my head around the fact people seem more concerned with the appearance of uniform pants…which to me at least is a long way from what the original premise of OOTP was to start.
I understand where you're coming from, but as a graphics-oriented guy, I really appreciate any improvement that can be made concerning uniforms. Uniforms have needed to be improved for a very long time.

I am certainly not against 3D improvements (and yes, this thread is dedicated to it) I do believe it has made OOTP much more immersive on a day to day level (in game). My only point is it’s been said so many times that the development resources that go into 3D are not the same that go into the core game. It’s also been said that the resources that go into PT aren’t the same…so I guess I am wondering why perhaps things haven’t developed in the core game as much as some might expect given the amount of development resources hasn’t changed?

Agreed. I do not need amazing graphics, but appreciate any gains and the sky is the limits.

TBF I do yell at the game as much as I yell at Dark Souls type games when I forget how angry those games get me, so there’s that as well. First they upgrade those graphics, the next thing you know, they’re giving them names that sounded very twee in 1999 and put them on consoles that have been dead since 2005!!! This is how they get ya!

If you play out all 162, better graphics = better experience.
Can't speak to the impact on allocation of the dev's resources.

Is OOTP still the best in its genre? (baseball simulation) you bet it is…but without any serious competition things can become stagnant…and that’s just the nature of business I’m afraid. No need to go build a better mouse trap so to speak.
COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!!!! Thats how business world works. As you can see their cliental wants graphics (eye candy) and they will provide it to keep revenue coming in. But dont forget us who were there since the beginning was a different market than it is today.

A question I have is what are the best laptops to look for that affordable to get quality game play in the 3D mode? I’d say $800 and less? My son wants the game but I don’t want to buy a $1,200 laptop for one game he wants to play

No complaints here, since I have a gaming rig. But whatever floats your boat.

I’m pretty sure this game was released on mobile. So if by “gaming rig” you mean “phone” then yes…
