Play 'em all out, all 162, one-pitch mode

I manage them all, but not one pitch at a time.

This. Every year I play I manage every game but I only get through about 3 seasons in so I never really get to see how my draft picks pan out so this version I started a GM save, but I really can't get into it, I don't feel a connection to the team as when I manage. Just started a manage save with the new patch and try to run both and see how it goes.

I manage my team but not every game. I play the first 10-12 to get a feel for my team. Then I base it on my record. If I am out of at least the wildcard, I will continue to play every game. If I am in the WC then I will play 1-2 games of every series based upon if I want a longer look at some players. If I fall out of WC, then I will play every game until I am back in. If it looks like I am out for the year by early SEP, I just Sim the whole month.

I start in late May after the first big patch and usually can get in 5-10 seasons before I move on to Franchise Hockey Manager in Dec (after its first big patch).

Historically, I've been the type to manage every game. This year, though, I wanted to try something different, so I'm not managing and just being a spectator, starting in 1901. I'm trying to find the right rhythm for me. I don't want to feel too detached from the events because I want to enjoy watching the season, but neither do I want to get so dragged down into each statistic that it takes me forever to get through a season. I want to view this try as I did as kid: knowing who the players were and watching them become big names but not actually involved in their day-to-day lives.

Just subtly (or maybe not so subtly) pointing out where my loyalties lay (even though I know the Baby Ruth makers claimed it wasn't named after the Babe. Liars, I say.).

Didn’t it come out before the hitter? The Baby Ruth I mean.

ETA: nope! It was released in 1920 and while the company said it was named after Grover Cleveland’s daughter, the candy bar was released 24 years after the Cleveland presidency ended and it was obviously just a move to avoid paying Ruth (the ball player) royalties.

I think I remember reading that at one point there was an actual Babe Ruth candy bar or some sort of candy or he was involved with a candy company or something.

Yeah, according to the Wikipedia article the Baby Ruth candy company sued the company Ruth endorsed for copyright infringement, claimed they named the candy after Ruth Cleveland, and won because it was 1920.

Thank the gods that lawsuits in our present make much more sense....

I still manage each game for my major league team, and micromanage my entire organization from the top down. All levels of the minors, I control every transaction. It takes me a long time to get through a season but I feel that is the best way for me to be in touch with my organization.

I GM the season stepping in to set lineups and depth charts as needed.

For the playoffs I manage and go one-pitch mode unless it is a really important at bat.
I used to GM only and not manage the playoffs, but will never do it that way again. It means so much more when I am managing the the games.

That bottom of the 9th single in game 4 to force a game 5, giving up that 3 run blast in the top of the 8th to loose the series. Those memories don't come from reading a box score.
