Still want to know why it is a good marketing strategy to not tell potential buyers what is being offered for sale.

There sure are a lot of people worried about how Markus chooses to market his product.
I wonder why he's not ![]() |

Still think it was a horrible decision (for the consumers at least) to see out to Com2Us. |

I've been very careful (at least I've tried to be) to not disclose anything that hasn't been closed by one of the OOTPD team. What I'll say is that there are a lot of cool little enhancements that have come in, the kinds of things that a. people have been asking for for a while and b. are exactly the kinds of things OOTPD has been burned for by touting as an enhancement in the past.
This is a game that makes little incremental changes from year to year. Sometimes those "incremental" changes are kind of a big deal under the hood but you won't see the real effect for an iteration or two. There's one big one that's exactly that but which I haven't seen posted by the devs (in part because I think to most players who don't play around with the editor, they'll never notice it) so I'll remain mum about it. Not saying anyone should buy a product based on Nixon-style secret plans to improve the game of course.

I liked OOTP when it was smaller, but then we wouldn't have a lot of the improvements we now have. What I miss most though is the old days of pre release. The days when the forums were full of excitement, wondering what new goodies Markus had included in this years version. It seems like now there's a lot of "they won't tell us anything, they're spending all the money on PT, the game will just be a re release with updated rosters, etc etc complaints." It leaves me scratching my head some of the posts I read. I'm just different I guess. I get excited every year, just like I did way back when the game was new. I'm grateful a new version comes out every year. I'd be lost without it. OOTP fills so much of my time it's like a family member. Anyway, I hope all who purchase find plenty of enjoyment with this years version. |

I just hope the game doesn't stink. I purchased and refunded the last 2, 23 and 24. I almost did the same here, but i am holding out hope.

The NH beta comes out 3 days early. That is when the changelist is published. And people will post on here first impressions. Use this information to make your choice

This. Markus probably sold out to them so they would handle things like marketing. Game Devs don't make natural marketers. I think they picked the wrong company to sell out to though. I can't believe there aren't better publishers willing to make an offer. |

It amazes me sometimes how someone can say "I don't have the interest or time to watch a video" and then turn around and expect us (who DID watch the video) summarize everything they want to know in a paragraph.
Privilege to the extreme. |

Nobody expects you or any other forum member to summarize a video. We expect the developers to. You know the people who actually know what’s going on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Like, pick one of the above. You can't have the entire pie, Charles.

Yes, so wait until the release. Once the release day comes, they publish a list of new things in there.

I pretty much always watch the videos (although I'd prefer a written list, which IS something they could do, its not unreasonable to ask about it) and there was a notable difference this year in the amount of detail and the amount of screenshots or let's plays that they usually do. Cannot speak for OP but I do see a difference for what's it's worth. |

Oh I do. Can't tell ya the last time I preordered a game. But..if OOTP actually wants preorders it might be good to tell people what changed. Only a small percentage of the public are gonna buy a game yearly without knowing what's changed.

This thread happens every year and every year I shake my head at people defending the actions of OOTP.
Grown-ass men cheerleading for a company not disclosing the content of their product but pushing for people to preorder. I've been at the OOTP game since OOTP 2. I loved the development, I looked forward to the game, I believed in the process. Nowadays, I simply have no respect for the development team. It's anti-consumer and they really dont deserve anybody's money, ESPECIALLY before the game is even released because of the antics leading up to a release. Every. Single. Year. |
