Explain to me why you frequent this forum then? If you have no use for OOTP and won't support them, why are you posting here? Just curious. If I couldn't stand a game or its developers, I certainly wouldn't frequent its forum.

Maybe a small part of him wants to support the team

I'm guessing the motivation is the hope that a bunch of people will reply saying they agree with him.

I'm really hoping the rumors are true that OOTP just landed Sarah McLachlan to head the 2023 support the team campaign.

Honestly asking, not calling you out, but removing a nation from a game is that pervasive of a problem that you have a life rule about it?

Please go ahead and volunteer to pay the lawsuit that would arise that way we can all benefit

[QUOTE=BaseballMan;4984232]I fail to see the point in limiting the conversation on whether it's worth it to upgrade. I've bought every version since ootp 2

I have every version since 2001 as i found the game in 1999 at Best Buy when it was sold as a CD 1999... Liked it so much i was looking for it and never could find it the following year. Found it again the following year and always got CD till 2006 then learned i could download game since then. Yeah i was a late bloomer as far as online activities.

Just wanted to say welcome to the near origional club

Pretty sure it was the Japanese league for legal reasons.

No, it's not highway robbery. Those games also LOOK A LOT BETTER. If "The Show" ever adopted OOTP's stat engine, then OOTP would lose a lot of sales.

Yeap, if the Japanese league was removed, then I'm very likely going to pass on this one.

I first purchased OOTP when it was called OOTP. Yeah, before a number. When I got sent a CD.

So I hope that gives me my "loyal to the developers" card.

With that said, when someone comes into the forum and asks "Is it worth it to upgrade" respectfully, without being a troll, why not just answer the question? Why not discuss the new features you are excited for, or features you wished were in the game?

Why not ask how the person plays?. (Do you manage every game or do you sim seasons and team building is the joy?) Then tell the person what new features will match his style of play?

I mean, alternatively, you can just put him down and talk about how "cheap" the game is and how he should just be able to afford it if he wasn't such an idiot. I mean, I guess you could go that route. It discounts that for some people, they don't have a lot of disposable income and every purchase counts, but if you want to be rude, that's fine. I'm glad you are in a position where 40 bucks means nothing. Everyone is in fact, not, in your position.

If you don't like those posts, don't read them. If you are going to be rude to someone who posts those questions, I'd suggest not replying. Be nice. Be respectful. If you truly want to be loyal to the developer of the game, maybe try that.

Just my opinion. . .

This is why you're in the minors, dude. With comments like this, you'll never move up to the big leagues.

It’s not like they’re hiding them in vague, click baity threads with ambiguous titles like “Love this time of year but…” They’re very straightforward and to the point, like if this thread had been titled “ITT local privileged man tells other people how to value their money” - and if this thread had that title, I can assure you I wouldn’t have read it, because I don’t like reading privileged people displaying how out of touch with the lives and financial situation of other people - and when I don’t look forward to reading something, I tend to not read it when I know I’m in a situation where I can either read it or not read it. But I opened it and was subjected to the written diarrhea that is the OP, and here we are.

For me, I’ve already made my choice, regardless of what features are or are not present - as a rule, I’m not going to support a company that has chooses to remove a nation and all of its teams and leagues from their game, and I will not be making an exception in this case. But if I were going to buy the game and I thought it was worth it, rather than whining about people trying to decide for themselves if it’s worth it or not and expecting them to just blindly agree with me, I would either actively participate in the conversation in a positive way in hopes of convincing them why it’s worth it, or I would…ignore them. But, hey, that’s just me.

Respectfully, only the beta people have played the game, and respectfully, a lot of us treat the purchase as an annual fee for a game they're going to play hundreds to thousands of hours every year. These things do in fact factor in. Like, is your antivirus software so chock full of goodness that you're going to pay for it this year? I guess in some ways this isn't a fair comparison since McAfee will just stop working if you don't whereas you can continue to play <old version of OOTP> all you want, but it's somewhat similar inasmuch as it's kind of a subscription model to help to ensure that a very complicated game continues to make incremental improvements.

If you're not into that, then fine, I guess. Some people can only afford to buy a new version every other year and others don't like that perceived model. If you're in the second group though, just because you disagree with it doesn't mean that others don't operate under that line of thinking, and if you ask people and that's the response you get, it's still a valid response. Depending on what kind of game you want to play, there may even be alternatives out there - there really isn't for the way I prefer to play, not even in other sports, but YMMV.

I can't speak for others but for me there are many games on steam that i would like to get but can't right now. Some due to spending choice and others due to time i can spend on a game.
So if its going to come down to faith or trust with a game then i will go with ootp over most games.
I think most people would go with a game they are familiar with.
I'm guessing a lot of people have that chose to make.
Games are fun but i'm sure people here have other things in life to do or need to do.
So its not always a question of price alone.

Why is this a question every single year?

Do what makes you happy. I'll let OOTP worry about the sales figures, and trust that not only do they know their job about building a game, but also building a successful business. I also was one of the people who was here from the start, and the fact is Marcus and company have shown they have the chops to handle both.

Glad it's been successful for them, and it's built something that I've invested tons of hours in over the years, so let OOTP do OOTP, and let everyone else do everyone else.

If you pick up the new version, awesome. If you don't you don't. Your call, and have fun either way. My level of caring (beyond this post) is nil, and that's what it should be for most folks. Have fun people.
