So glad I've been a mature adult throughout all of this when I notoriously on message boards and on Facebook have been known to anti-troll or stir the pot.

Which is why I made the jokes about extended warranties

I think the "landscape" so to speak, has definitely changed over the years. I usually check in every other day or so, and in the past, have found many helpful posts on how members play the game, hints on scouting the draft, managing the minors, etc. I still have those posts on my favorites list, and some I copied and pasted in a folder on my hard drive.

But unfortunately, now there's more "sniping" and moaning and groaning about the state of the game, or the sale to Com2us, etc. There are some good questions that come up occasionally about the game, but not as much as in the past. And the activity level seems to have either leveled off, or has decreased over the years.

I've been purchasing the game since version four, and I come in here and just pick and choose what I want to read about. Try and avoid the meaningless posts that I see, as it's not really worth my time to read them and respond.

lmfao it’s 2023 no man there are not forums out there. In related news, there are no OOTP mailing lists to my knowledge either. Probably not even a Usenet newsgroup!

There’s Reddit, there’s Discord, there’s random whinging on Twitter. There could be FB pages run by someone’s granddad. Since OOTP isn’t all about promoting anorexia, they’re not going to have anything going on instagram.

People have been sniping and arguing on these boards forever. Anyone remember The Wolf? That being said, folks used to be able to go a little off topic on these forums and it went a long way in letting folks get to know each other. Something as simple as how old are you and where are you from. What team do you root for etc. Problem is some see this type of conversation as clutter. I remember one saying a new forum member looking for an answer to a question like "how do I change to the dark skin" may be severely injured or worse if they can't find the answer through all the clutter. Glad we have these forum avengers on our side. Now someone posts something a little off topic and it gets moved to Talk Sports or worse, where it can be discussed with one guy that plays OOTP(Westheim) and thousands of other cats that haven't played OOTP for 15+ years if ever. Still blows my mind that there are people that spend all day on a baseball game forum they have never played. Well I guess Syd, Brad, and Bluenoser post in those forums, so not just Westhiem.. In no way do I want to come on the game forum to discuss the Super Bowl, but a little leeway that allows us to get to know each other would go a long way,

That was sarcasm, my friend. He's making light of the early 2000s wave of mailing lists and when message boards were at their peak of popularity (which is insane considering this is one of only two message boards I still post on).

Release days were incredible when The Wolf was here. The links would get announced for the download and within 15 minutes The Wolf would declare it the best version ever. People started calling him on it and he would of course go ballistic.
