Is there a need for an unofficial forum now?

There is now so many things that are being censored for discussion now on all the the official channels and not everyone likes the wild wild west of Reddit.

Can someone PM if there's an unofficial place out there in the interwebs I don't know about ?

The Streisand Effect has arrived.

Why do people use different players, different lineups, different strategy, development, talent change randomness, and the development lab, but judge the game on whether it produces historical statistics?

What's being censored other than direct mention of the league that was removed and poor behavior? Granted, a lot of both has been happening recently, but discussion outside of that league continues to be healthy and ongoing here. And while Reddit is sketchy in some instances, the OOTP subreddit is probably among the most G-rated subreddits around.

It doesn't even take mentioning that league to get a post removed anymore. Posts are being removed solely at the discretion of mods

I don't see why that thread was closed yesterday. Sure it was pointless, but did it really need to be closed. Is the new threshold the minute PSU gets annoyed by "you people."

Just feels like the mods by extension from OOTPDev are defensive right now. Which is valid after what happened. So there is a quick trigger.

I see the mods deleted my post about unscheduling my steam download. Oh well. Beginning of the end.

The mod who closed it (I think kq) said it had turned into a dogpile, which was probably accurate if you look at the last couple posts. While I agree with the sentiments of those who posted at the end of that thread, I'd much rather keep these forums focused on the game and try to discourage sniping back and forth among members. Is that fair to the community? Perhaps not in some instances, but I'd rather see that than this place turn into pointless back and forth between a few people. That's what the Off Topic forums are for.

My closing that thread had nothing to do with ***/Konami. It was all about, like I said in the cap, it turning into a dogpile on a single poster. Read this, please.

So it's the sniping back and forth that's the problem. Maybe that's why "you people" creates such a problem then. Once "you people" respond, then it becomes back and forth and the sniping is therefore no longer acceptable. So, "you people" need to just enjoy the one sided acceptable sniping. I get it now.

I agree. It’s a sad state of affairs but what can we do? Just enjoy what we have left.

+1

This is spot on. I understand if people want it to be something else, but it's not. Where the line was drawn says more about the recent moderation on the boards than the line itself.

Arguments end when one side realizes it has no plausible responses to the facts presented by the other side and runs out of tangential issue suitable for deflection. An argument that ends naturally is less likely to revive than one where authority forced it to end.

That's certainly not how I feel, so I hope you're not trying to put words in my mouth. Full transparency, I've reported many many comments on both sides of the aisle in recent weeks, so much so that I've been anticipating the mods asking me to stop reporting so many comments. In my opinion, both PSU and the people taking shots at him are out of line. If you don't like what he says, put him on your ignore list.

As for the question posed in the OP... I don't think so, I like arguing with y'all here perfectly fine.

If someone insists the final score of a game is predetermined by OOTP before the game starts should we challenge the idea or put him on ignore?

You can refute the claim while acting like an adult. I'm not pointing the finger directly at you, but there are many instances where responses to PSU (or others who make outlandish claims) have been inappropriate. If someone is not capable of responding sensibly and with a level head, then yes, the best course of action is to ignore it and let others handle it.

For someone who makes outlandish claims and continues to do so after receiving sensible level headed responses, it is quite appropriate for him to receive outlandish replies.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree.
