Well, I can honestly say, as much as I like the game, I’ve never gotten anything from OOTP that anyone else hasn’t gotten. Sycophant is a really strong word that simply doesn’t fit this scenario.
The reality is this… some customers “demand” transparent accountability from the Devs as if they are sitting in on the planning meetings. Others “request” changes and additions to the game understanding that there is a lot of variables that play a part into whether those changes make it or not. When they do, we are thrilled. When they don’t, we ask again the next year. It’s called “reality”. Last edited by HRBaker; 11-30-2022 at 04:51 PM. |

But I’ve already said too much - I don’t want to put myself into a situation where my admittedly average IQ is called into question, making me feel small and powerless… In all seriousness, I buy the game every year, and I actually think my ROI has been phenomenal given how much I play and enjoy playing the game. $40 or whatever I pay each year is more than fair, I think. I do appreciate a lot of folks on this thread who make wishlists, coherent critiques of the game, and submit bugs… I often find that my wishes, and frustrations are covered by others on the board. This year, it feels like there has been more dissatisfaction than usual, more buffoonery between members of the community, more angry tit-for-tat… or, maybe I’m just getting soft. Either way, I do enjoy reading through these flameouts, nonstop entertainment for a drama queen such as myself. Last edited by pauwoo; 12-01-2022 at 12:05 AM. |

Excellent opportunity to utilize obsequious. It's an underutilized word.
I might take those two off my ignore list if for no other reason than to utilize Rule #5.

I could have played 3 or 4 games in my dynasty leagues and maybe watched my outfielders run through walls for me a few more times... yep, 3D animation is wunnerful, wunnerful (would you believe I like the Lawrence Welk Show reruns?). I wish I played in the GM mode, so I could post a lot of threads complaining about that part of the game, too. This thread has got me riled up and ready to complain... have any of you noticed that the game recaps are in bad need of updating and improving? No more posts in this thread for me... I have just run out of words and run out of time... and run out of things to complain about. Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-30-2022 at 10:18 PM. |

Why even bother clicking the thread and commenting if you know it is going to be a negative thread? A certain group of people must enter every nefstive thread just to defend. Let people be negative. It doesn't effect your game or your enjoyment. People say I repeat. What to the defenders think they do? They repeat the same stories. Ootp is a great price for how many hours they play. I've been playing since ootp version x it's the baseball sim on market. It's brought my life joy and meaning. Etc. Many rehash the same praise over and over. If I see a thread I know I'm not interested in I dont read let alone comment multiple times in the thread. It's funny how every thread that criticizes ootp becomes the most popular thread on the forum in months. You can praise the game, studio, baseball all you want. But why the need to defend it anytime criticizes the game? Whether it is right wrong. Stop gatekeeping ootp. Whoever wants to give praise fine. Whoever wants to criticize fine. But I don't see the critics popping up in praise threads and being negative or trying to change people minds. But every critical thread immediately gets a response defending anything related to ootp. Just let it go. If you don't like or are interested in critical threads then skip em. It's simple. You are trying to force your prause down everyone's throats. The critics stay on there critical threads. While the defenders have to need to comment everywhere |

Typically most paladins are members of holy orders thus they can be counted as cults. There are always some orderless paladins roaming around though.
At least in most the DnD 3.5 branches like pathfinder etc. I am not extremely familiar with DnD 5e law and rules though. |

dola,
I’m all for criticism of the game. I have my own. I’ll even go so far as to say that someone should have said something like “hey this thread has run its course and certain people are calling others character classes from Dungeons and Dragons who actually think that this is some kind of own, which means they are a 1E monk and not even the good kind with Quivering Palm just a 1st level monk who’s tagging along with their party contributing absolutely nothing because of 1970s memes”. But man, some people need to get oooover themselves. 5 year plans, really? I even work in software development and generally speaking nobody really even knows if their company will be around in 5 years let alone have a cogent plan for what they’re going to do during all of that time. And if I see one more “improve the AI” without, like, a “how”, I’m going to… do nothing to be honest. And homestly, PSUColonel, with all due respect I don’t think you’re helping your cause with the “okay that remark was kind of ridiculous but what if I transform it into something that’s not ridiculous” stuff. Honestly I think you’d be best served by taking those and putting them into new threads because here, it’s just going to get drowned out by the, um, 1E monks and possibly 1E fighters (“just assume that every single turn I hit the kobold with my broadsword because that’s all I know how to do”) who are continuing to pursue their non-steelmanned arguments and the paladins and also possibly rakshasas (their hands are turned outwards like screwball pitchers) who sort of ignore your points because there are dumber arguments to engage with. Why is a developer - forget OOTP for a moment, pretend this was happening at Paradox of SI - going to want to wade through 6 pages of crap just to find 3 or 4 somewhat polished non-turds? Otherwise, think before you post, and if your name isn’t PSUColonel and this makes you mad, perhaps you should consider why someone telling you to think more makes you mad (PSUColonel is thinking enough and doesn’t need to calibrate) (I mean, other than trying to grow geraniums in the cesspool).

Nah, completely different branch of nerdery (and tbh I kind of like playing paladins in D&D; they’re a good hybrid of healer and fighter, and usually it’s easy to lock in on their personality and roleplay them well without being overly disruptive or acquiring “it’s what my chaaaaaracter would dooooo” syndrome).

Syd no critic n this specific thread has mentioned anything about 5 year plans. Maybe you aren't as smart as you try to appear on the forums

When this thread gets locked, who can we count on to open another one?
This thing is like the ‘bring out your dead’ scene from Holy Grail… just when I think it’s done, we get a, “I don’t want to go on the cart. I feel fine”. |

Yes, very good, elven fighter. It was absolutely brought up in the previous thread, which this one is just being an extension of only now with added persecution.

FWIW, I closed this thread and while I didn't read all the posts, I read the reports and enough of it to surmise there can't be much of any real value in it. Honestly, it all just seems like some of you want to put on some highschool rendition of West Side Story, but with a D&D theme. Maybe actually do that instead of re-starting the thread over and over.
Or find some other constructive way of spending your time, like trying to help others with problems they may be having here on the boards, or out in the real world.
