I wonder when they'll start offering refunds for spring training games. I have tickets for two.

The 2020 policy. I imagine they'll do the same.

I didn't need any refunds for 2020. At a game I attended they announced spring training was over at the end of the game. I didn't have tickets for any later games.

Apparently Juan Soto declined a $300M offer from the Nats. Hope the Mariners will go after him.

Which means he's either going to New York or Los Angeles.

According to this, the MLBPA moved - slightly - on two core issues, their FIRST movement since their original proposal in November.

Well, if they don't reach an agreement soon, two states will need to be declared economic disasters zones. According to bloomberg.com, "In total, the Arizona and Florida leagues that host spring training baseball bring about $1 billion in combined annual economic impact to their states."

This is correct. I live close to one the parks and the tourism spring training attracts is a big part of the economy.

I don't have a link because I can't remember where I've read this, but I've seen it in a couple of places now. It looks like advertisement patches on the uniforms might be a thing this year. From what I've read, both sides have agreed to it.

I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but I've seen this in a few places.

This would not be surprising. What is surprising is it hasn't happened yet.

I think I've got a solution for the lockout. The MLB gives the players mostly what they want, but it has to be like a 30 or 50 year deal. Then everyone is happy right?

You are making the mistake of approaching this with a certain degree of reason.

Hah! That would definitely be an interesting approach, but I'm thinking the other side in any negotiation would probably turn that down. You just don't know what the world will be like in 30-50 years. The things that are important to an organization could be completely different over that timeframe.

MLB and the Players Assoc need to go to arbitration. Both sides lay out exactly what they want, the arbitrator decides who gets what.

Both sides need to get their snoots out of the trough and remember the fans. Never happen...just should.

MLB suggested arbitration.
The PA rejected the idea.
So while I agree with you, I wouldn't hold your breath.

You're right...on both counts.
General public interest in baseball as been dwindling for several years now but both sides seem oblivous to this fact.
Their greedy buffoonery is only going to expedite the decline in interest.
Unlike in '94, a lot of the casual fans won't be coming back this time if recent history is a guide.

The latest I saw was that they were so far apart that they weren't really even on the same playing field. An arbitrator is less likely to come to a "fair" conclusion and instead go kind of all or nothing in favor of whoever states their case better. If I was the MLBPA on the bonus pool deal in particular I'd be very, very skeptical that the league wouldn't continue to lock them out if an arbitrator said "yeah, I think having a $110M bonus pool for pre-arb players makes more sense than a $15M pool" just due to the sheer difference in distance. As it stands, any arbitrator worth their salt is going to look at that and say "hey guys, I highly recommend you all go back and negotiate with each other, because whichever way I rule, one of you is going to be very, very upset" (which by the way is exactly what the arbitrator who ruled on the reserve clause back in the 70s did).

Arbitration would be fine and might still be OK if/once the two sides are within shouting distance of each other.
