Editing the Frequency of Names & Schools Appearing in Game

I'd like to see game-generated fictional players come from more obscure colleges instead of always coming from major NCAA D1 programs like Texas and Oregon State. Additionally, I would love to see more players with diverse and uncommon names. How can I edit the game files so this is possible? Thank you

As an Aussie of 52 years' standing, I would like to take this opportunity to state for the record that, in my entire time on Earth, I have never met someone from my home nation whose name is either Zachariah or Baden....

How many Australians have you met...?! You make it sound like an astonishing number!

Well, then there's the 'my entire time on Earth'.... There is much about the post that fascinates.

Not sure about "astonishing" (I guess it all depends on how easily you are astonished...) but enough to assure this board that the frequency with which those two names appear in Australian players in OOTP is somewhat out of whack...

There are a few problems with the Australian nameset that comes with the game. First, it hasn't been updated in ... well, forever, as far as I know. Second, all of the frequency values are "1" so every name is just as common as every other name. Third, in noodling around the interwebs, it appears that there's no central statistical agency in Australia for recording names. That job is left to the states, so if you wanted to compile your own nameset you'd have to check out each state's database. Even then, though, you might have limited luck. I was only able to find sites listing the top 100 names for certain states. You may have better luck with the Australian names that are included in Dogzilla's world names database, which is posted in the names & nations mod subforum.

Thanks for that. Down here there are so many blokes called Bruce or Wayne the country should be called Batman...

If anyone has a better Australian names file, feel free to send it to me and we can include it in the game. (Or any name files, not just Australian)

I was being totally tongue-in-cheek when I made my comment. although the statement was true. I have both a Zachariah and a Baden in my franchise and am proud of it! Things like that don't bother us Aussies, we're too busy keeping the kangaroos off the roof...

The somewhat ironic things is that I used to be part owner in a restaurant here in Sydney called Zachary's!

There are also far too few English people named Chim Chimeroo or Pecadilly.

Lots of good names files in the editor section of the forum, but if you hate the Oz names, you can make a names file and fix them and then share! That's what we all do. Even if you just wanted to supply a text list of plausible names, someone else would probably generate a file for everyone's use.
