The bottom has fallen out on my team. 38-41, no longer leading the division, and on yet another extended losing streak. As usual, I am powerless to stop it because the points don't come when you're losing as much as I am. Relegation back to Iron is inevitable.

Updated reports for today are coming soon.

Simply put, not good enough for this level. This is simply the latest version, having chopped and changed several significantly underachieving players for ones who have only slightly underachieved so far.

Andy Pafko's the DH, doesn't play the field. My two big offensive acquisitions being Pafko and Dale Murphy, neither have worked out. Combined, they're hitting .212

I don't have the points to make the big investment needed to get the nose up on this thing. Only thing to do is hope for either a hot streak soon, or hope for relegation back to Iron, where I can start gaining some points again.

Standings for Our League for Bronze and Silver

These are the only updates available as I write. In B240, the Philadelphia story continues to be writ large, as they roll along at an .800 clip. One of the two teams to come from PT 19 with its original name, the Patriots are on course to add their fifth Our League crown, and second in-a-row in 2.0. The Port Ruppert Mundys, in S271, are the other holdover. In S271, Waffletown owns a slim .007 lead over Terra Incognita.

The standings:

Name Change

Omgpuppies has reported that the Kaneohe Mokes have taken over the name Ewa Beach Fighting Chickens. The present Ewa Beach team has been renamed Rest in Peace, and will be put to bed, leaving Our League. Rest in Peace operated under the user name of hymenator, which should be removed the Friends List. We thank hymenator for his participation, thankful there are still three remaining representatives of the Aloha State. By the way, I believe his Aina Haina Parakeets kept the same name from PT 19, but they only played one full season, and part of another, before flying off to a higher level in PT 19. That lone season did yield a crown.

What's Wrong With My Ismael Valdes?

My infield has Mark Belanger, Tim Teufel, Pokey Reese, and Wally Joyner so it can't be laid on the lack of infield defense behind a groundball pitcher. Admittedly, Fernando Tatis gets a lion's share of the starts at third, but every grounder can't be hit there, can it? His lifetime numbers:

Hey, Stanley, I must say, OMGPuppies' Parakeets are some kind of awesome. While they aren't going to win any batting titles, heir "all-blue" defense (plus over 100 DEF at all key positions) and sterling pitching are dominant, and with a stingy ballpark, their motto should be "not in our house!".

In our only scheduled meetup of the season, the Parakeets swept the Bunnies.. the Bunnies were so disoriented they lost their next two games to give them their longest losing streak of the year. Now both teams are in first place in their divisions (the Bunnies recovered enough that they are still 13 1/2 games up), so there is at least a chance the two teams could meet for the Diamond World Series! Stay tuned....

Good afternoon, baseball fans! In what may be the debut of the worst theme ever, the unaffiliated (not eligible for Our League) London Rippers proudly present their line up for today's game:

Batting first and playing shortstop, Ozzie Smith.
In the second spot, designated hitter, Al Smith.
Hitting third, right fielder Reggie Smith.
In the clean-up spot, first baseman Ryder Jones.
In center field, batting fifth, Andruw Jones.
Hitting sixth and catching, Kevan Smith.
Batting seventh and patrolling left field, Lonnie Smith.
At third base, the number eight hitter, Chipper Jones.
And in the ninth spot, shortstop JaCoby Jones.

Today's starting pitcher is Randy Jones.

Again, the starting batters for London are Smith, Smith, Smith, Jones, Jones, Smith, Smith, Jones, and Jones. With Jones on the mound.

I think that Wales once started a lineup of 15 Joneses in Rugby, but to do it in PT is pretty impressive, especially for an old fart like me who remembers the show Alias Smith and Jones.

The Puppies are a fun team. I built them as a combination of speed and power, completely disregarding defense. Given that, I am surprised how we they are doing. For the Syrups, Hamilton must be a fun player to have. And, I just love Pesky. You're right. You are totally alive in your division. I need to stay out of that dreaded wild card game.

That's awesome. You gotta Get Adam Jones

What a match up. The defense and pitching of the Puppies vs. the brutish hitting of the Bunnies. Here is hoping we meet in the series. We are in a good league with no whales, so we both have solid chances. Aina Haina used to be built completely around defense, but the offense just wasn't cutting it. This year we replaced a bunch of guys (Blair, Andruw, Tulo, Kiermaier, Belanger, Aparicio, Devo, Petis, etc.) with players who still played good defense but could hit some too. So far so good.

Hey SodoMojo, how's it going? I think when I was checking PT last night your Seattle Pilots and my Cowboys were having a series. Didn't pay too much attention to it though.. because I was desperately trying to scrape together enough PP to buy Garry Maddox. He'd be the perfect fit for my team at CF, but alas.. he got away. If anyone has a Garry Maddox available, I'm a buyer!

I had Pesky with my pack-only team in v19 and liked him so much I made the small concession to the theme this year (as he's technically 1946 on his card, but since his career started in 1942 I let him through)... figure with him and Travis up the middle it gives a pretty solid defense, and they both have solid bats at the plate too...

still trying to tweak Hamilton's settings a bit to see if I can get more stolen bases out of him (and not just have him run into outs getting caught, as it seems the more you bump that slider to be aggressive with steals, the higher the caught stealing number rises)... he gave a bit more pop from the bat than I expected last year (17 homers if I remember right), so a nice guy to have in the leadoff spot...

Maddox is so money even at higher levels. Excellent defense with decent hitting. Been a staple of my teams since 19.

Yeah he'd be a great fit on my team. Hope he pops up on the market when I earn some more PP. Theoretically, I'd love Ken Griffey Jr. in the CF spot, but the card I saw of his was pretty lame.

So, regarding Maddox, I think the auction price listing for him is all wrong. I don't understand it. I had been watching for him for a long time but he was always too expensive --- never saw him go for less than 7000. Finally, at the beginning of this season, somebody put him up with a 6666 buy now and I quickly grabbed him. But all this time that he goes for 7k and up, the auction house keeps showing him as averaging 5k for last 7 days (4.5k overall). So something is screwy. You will never see him that low.

yeah, the last 7 price seems to jump around more than expected... logging that on about 50 pitchers on my potential upgrade list and it's interesting to see how much it moves (up and down)...

bad news for my boys: off to a 5-9 mark in July.... good news: turned a triple play to pull in 2000 points so that much closer to a new player purchase...
