How is it a "PC view of the world" to want there to be a distinction between Spanish and Mexican names, when they are demonstrably different?

There must be some kind of a link between wanting realism and political correctness that we're just not seeing.

Hmm... I totally see your point, as the largest population of Muslims are Indonesian and they tend to have names that are straight up Indonesian, but there are "Muslim" names that are used throughout not just Arabia but Africa and by practicing Muslims in Europe and the Americas as well whether they're from the Arabian peninsula or not. Think of Muhammad Ali, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rashan Salaam, Ahmad Rashad... none of those people are Arabic but all have decidedly Muslim names.

There are, of course, Christian names too; we just don't notice so much because they're so ingrained in our culture.

The central point is that the current number and selection of ethnolinguistic groups in the game isn't even adequate for what we have now, let alone for a game with a global database that has been suddenly made smaller with a tournament builder. Can you, as a baseball fan who obviously values realism above Cricket-like contrivances, honestly look at that demographic data posted above from Spanish-speaking (and many baseball playing) nations and still say with a straight face that there isn't a problem with game's ethno-name sets?

Sorry, but having a singular "Hispanic" and "African" ethno-name set is as ridiculous as having a generic, all-encompassing "European" or "Asian" one.
I for do not add all the different leagues added into the game. I use just the USA leagues and minor leagues. So I don't want a 1000 other ethicities in my name database that has nothing to do with the areas and regions I play. Add to your heart desires. Bad enuff with the small league size I use I take the trouble sometimes to match skin color to ethinicty game defaultly gives. Just leave the option to keep as is. Don't force me to use every ethnic group around the world.

PC killed common sense. So tired of others forcing their will on me.

Wanting to be able to have players from a county use names from that country is not PC in any way. It's just wanting some realism. I think the word "ethnicity" just sets some people off.

Right, YOU, not other people. This may come as a terrible shock to you, but other people actually play this game too who do use those leagues, and who want the game to be as realistic and immersive as possible. Accuracy in ethno-name sets, especially for nations that actually produce major league talent, helps achieve that goal every bit as much statistical accuracy.

No one is forcing you to do squat. You can follow your own advice here and edit the game yourself to your heart's content and simply exclude those ethnicities and leagues that you feel others are somehow imposing on you.

This is the prize winner right here. This comment is so asinine that it staggers the mind. No one else brought up politics or PC in this thread but you. And yet, here you are, accusing others of doing that very same thing. Is the irony lost on you somehow? That you would even make the irrational connection between wanting the ethno-name sets in the game to accurately reflect what we actually see in MLB to PC, and then accuse others of "forcing" this delusion on you no less, reflects extremely poorly on you and your cognitive abilities. Do you realize that?

I also play just America with Americans. If I don't it seems in a few years Americans are few. Plus I get all the fun names just by setting it to America.

Right, which is one of the beautiful things about OOTP...its customizability. The fact that players have the ability to play the game in a wide range of ways is what makes this game special.

It's just a pity that some people don't seem to appreciate that.
