After reading Gambo's comments on this issue, I think graphical improvement should first focus on things like generating custom uniforms. At present the cap logo is the team logo but no jersey logo is created. It could be as simple as creating a logo with the team nickname or city with different fonts available. Ballparks would be nice. Right now the game only ships with one park that defaults to every team. Personally that is not a huge issue to me but it could be the determining factor for a person who has never played and has no knowledge of the huge modding community. I know when I bought Hearts of Iron from paradox it was a good game but I am not sure I would have bought HOI2 or HOI3 if I had not known about the large amounts of mods.
Personally, I think the ease of modification and the available mods are often ignored in reviews or under played at least. So allowing the game to create unique cap and jersey logos at start would be an easy step to improve graphics significantly. IIRC, it was Gambo who said the graphics in the review looked nothing like his game. I think this hurts for potential buyers better game graphics in the current system, eg. computer generated cap and jersey logos, more ballparks, and maybe improvements on the baseball cards may be a quick and easy improvement that would catch potential buyers' eyes. OOTP has gone the way of Paradox of incorporating mods by users into newer versions. Perhaps some of the modded fictional jerseys and caps could be incorporated into the game. I realize OOTP can not legally sell the game with MLB logos and uniforms without paying some kind of fee which is probably big but they can provide more fictional uniforms above the 2 logos the games ships with. |

I just have to ask this. Does the Bootstrap league have a team from Monte Carlo?

I presume you mean trades, sales, and releases. Because a comprehensive, fully accurate listing of options, recalls, and disabled list assignments from the start of major league history doesn't exist.

Unless SABR or the likes does something like this it's unlikely, unless every archive for this time of information gets computerized. Until very recently the press didn't get word of every recall, option, assignment and if you go back a little further many moves were not even "official". There are many stories in baseball up until the 1960s where players were "sent down" to the minor league club when in reality they just hung out around the big club for a week or so until they were needed. It was common when it was more expensive to arrange for train tickets to and from Toledo than it was to pay a guy a partial salary and have him stay in town. Teams would have a 24 man active roster and still have a group of journeymen rotate in and out of the roster as needed. An extra catcher, an extra arm, and OFer. The team would just report a guy as injured to the league and let someone else play. Ever wonder why some major league players played only 30 games a season in the bigs but also have barely any stats at the minor league level. You'd think these guys would start in Scranton. They would but often they were never there.

No, sorry. I suspect I'm missing a reference here. The BBL is currently made up of teams from the West Coast of the United States. I went with "bootstrap" because they consider themselves an upstart league, trying to get big enough to compete with MLB.

Where did I say no strategy used? I said it is not a strategy game, not that was no strategy used. If you want to think about it like that, almost every game in existence could be considered a strategy game. By the way, thanks. Not sure if you are trying to imply the time spent posting on forums means something. |

Second best choice. I'd support this if an ITP/OOTP merger was declared a dead issue by the powers that be. By the way, if the survey had asked about other programs I would purchase, Title Bout 3.0 for the Mac would've been my first choice. I think that's just you. (Imagine an 'I mean no offence' smilie here. And I do know you're not alone in this.) I suffer through maybe fifty (in some leagues a hundred) hours of tinkering before I can 'just press play', and for me that's WAY too much. |

I've seen OOTP called a simulation game, a strategy game, and even a role-playing game, but I'll tell you exactly what it it is: it's a computer baseball game.

And the Mets weren't around until about 15-20 years after he died.

Personally, I would like to see an AI overhaul, better trading decisions, better lineup/depth chart choices, or at the least the ability to make the AI determine lineups, depth charts, minor league promotions and demotions, and various other things by stats, not ratings.
