Just had an outfielder make the catch, bang into the wall and DROPPED the ball. Never saw that in 9 before.
Too bad it was my outfielder, the basese were loaded and my 2-0 lead has turned into a 3-2 Braves lead. Love it and hate it at the same time.

Yeah, exactly - the game can now model the High School draftee who hasn't really developed his offspeed pitches at the time of the draft. If, like most HS draftees, he has good Stamina, he'll be able to start in the minors, but unless his repertoire develops, he won't be able to start in the bigs. Should make draft day decisions more interesting - draft the guy with higher upside, in the hope that he develops an SP's arsenal, or draft the guy with the lower ceiling, but who is a much safer bet to be a starter in the Majors?

Wow. That came off as a bit angry.

It downloaded super fast for me. I'm in my 30 minute lunch break, and i've gotten it installed and set up a quick test league to sim as many seasons as i can before i finish work.
The graphics look fantastic, the new generic logos are a huge improvement. |

Some VERY first impressions. I've been playing for a few hours now, so it's obviously way too early to comment on stuff like the new pitching system, etc. For the most part it appears to look and play like OOTP 9 in most ways, which is a good thing. I'm hoping that the pitching system and stuff make it even more fun, though.
Thoughts: 1. On the positive side, it hasn't crashed yet so that's a good thing! I haven't noticed any bugs or anything. 2. Also positive, the roster set is a LOT better this year than last. I only made a few small changes to the Yankees and I was happy to see that most of their upper tier prospects are treated as upper tier prospects. It bugged me last year that a lot of top or decent prospects seemed to have half star potential and I'm happy that the set is more accurate now. Adding real numbers was a very nice touch, too. On the other hand, I WISH the Yankees had a bullpen that looks half as good as the one you guys gave them in this game. ![]() 3. On the negative side, while welcome in principle, I can tell that some of the new PBP is going to bug me. I've played less than two whole games and I've already seen the play where an OF catches the ball, then loses it either against the wall or against the ground four times. How often does that really happen in MLB? Several times a year, sure, but twice a game? It almost seems like that was added as a relatively common hit result. Also, this is not really a PBP issue and perhaps it's just a fluke, but I've also seen three outfield assists in the first one and a half games. More first impressions as I have them. (Or will they be second impressions by then?) |

Oh, I forgot this, too, on the negative side:
I'm pretty disappointed by the widget feature. There seems like there is some very cool stuff there but if you play in windowed view it doesn't seem like there's any room on the screen to add anything or to move anything around. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? |

Love it so far...I'm simming a 2009 season. Only complaint I have is the frequency of injuries. Although I'm playing as the Mets and the turn of events closely mirrors the reality, I was competing for a playoff spot in September and within the course of the month, I lost my 2B, LF, RF, SS, backup SS, 2 SP, CL, and Setup Man to injuries worthy of the 60-Day DL. I love the setbacks during injuries, though, but it would be nice not to lose a whole roster to injuries just before the playoffs.
on edit: make that my backup RF too now on edit again: my CF just went down too. This is really starting to get a bit ridiculous Last edited by ilovethemets; 06-03-2009 at 02:41 PM. |

Played my first game out. Forgot to set it to full-screen so I didn't get the full effect.
It was just plain awesome. |

I'm a bit disappointed to see solid SP prospects with 20/80 potential. It was a big pet peeve last year.
