Good moral victory either way. It's hard to see players suddenly try to hit Clemens harder because he's with the Yankees instead of the Astros.

As for Clemens, I don't mind the signing, but they did overpay. It keeps a rotation spot warm for one of their future "big 3". I was disappointed to read that they are shutting Kennedy down for the rest of the year. Between the back spasms and his innings getting close to "his yearly limit", they decided it wasn't worth it to risk him any more this year. He did say he was hoping to at least work out of the pen at least once more this year, but I doubt he's on the post-season roster With Ramirez melting down as well, it looks like K-Fag(also known as F********h and other things that can't be mentioned here) might end up on the post-season roster after all

Michael Kay brought this up tonight:
He says the Twins will be shopping Santana around this off-season and naturally a trade for him will require great value in return, most likely top prospects. Kay asked boothmate Al Leiter whether he would trade Chamberlain for Santana (perhaps giving up other prospects as well for an established star, but let's stop there). Leiter said he would do it, that Chamberlain is an unproven 22-year-old while Santana is in his prime at 28 and is a known quantity, an all-time great. I say, no, NO, NO! Even if Chamberlain turns out to be a bust, I would never take a chance on trading a player with his potential and several years of service to offer the Yankees for a star who would be a free agent at the end of the season. There is no guarantee that Santana would re-sign with the Yankees, so I would be trading years of Chamberlain's early career for one season of Santana before having to take the chance of losing him to free agency. By the way, I used the same argument against the idea of trading Chamberlain and Cabrera for Gagne. What's that they say on Wall Street about past performance being no guarantee of future results? Chamberlain for Santana? I say, no, NO, NO! What do you say? Last edited by 1998 Yankees; 09-26-2007 at 09:57 PM. |

Let's say something weird happens and Chamberlain tanks next year. By the time we conclude that he's another Chase Wright ( ), Santana will have won his 20 games, copped another Cy Young Award, and be on the market. Let the Yankees bid on him then.

Now we can both enjoy the rest of the 2007 baseball season! Hope it will last all the way to ALCS.

If we get schedule choice and are playing the Angels with the Yankees at the Indians should we take the 7 day one instead of the 8 day one.
If we give CLE-NYY the 8 day series Cleveland will be able to use Sabathia and Carmona for games 1, 2, 4 and 5 on proper rest. I'd rather the Yankees faced that than us.

Should be a great Wild Card Series no matter who we play. Both the Angels and Indians will be dangerous in a 5 game series.

I'm in a bizzaro world
![]() Chamberlain has, what, a 10% chance of ever having a season as good as one can expect from Johan? Joba is still not the top pitching prospect in the AL East , let alone above Johan

I lived through the 80s where all kids were traded off for vets (not all of them good). Yes, I'd love to see Santana in a Yankee uniform. But, not if it costs Joba. I haven't been this hyped about a Yankee rookie in a long time.

I hope Joba does very well. I know there's been an array of rookies through TEE
this year. There was a lot of talk about Hughes earlier this year, and then Ramirez. Hopefully the curse of rookie-god doesn't strike Joba (except in the ALCS if necessary )

Santana's the best pitcher in baseball. All the potential in the world means Chamberlain might someday be as good as Santana is now.

It's hard to believe that, at 92-67, the Yankees are tied with the Angels for the second best record in the major leagues.

Woot! Nathan strikes out Varitek and Youkilis with the bases loaded, bottom of the ninth, and the Twins win 5-4. BoSox lead is down to 2 games again with three to go. Stay tuned this weekend.
