How about Ricky?

He's only 48. He can probably still bunt and steal a few bases. Also, he can't be any worse in the outfield than Pablo.

Actually, Pablo has looked a lot better in the outfield this year. I remember a fantastic catch he made in left field, I believe on opening day.

That's more like it - shake off the big loss and come out swinging!

The 4 runs the Sox put up in the top of the first inning double the amount of runs they have scored in support of John Danks, who picked up his first big-league victory.

Just to emphasize: The White Sox, prior to tonight, had scored a total of four runs in Danks' other starts. This is his sixth start. Criminy!

I was glad to see Danks get his first win. Although, I'm still waitng for Danks to pitch 8 innings and hand the ball to Jenks in the 9th Danks to Jenks...

Once again the bullpen made me nervous as heck, but we pulled through.

Who would have thought we would win this this lineup?:

CF Erstad
2B Ozuna
RF Dye
1B Konerko
DH Mackoviak
3B Crede
SS Uribe
LF Sweeney
C Molina

Certainly not a world beating lineup there.

Unrelated to the game, but from what I've heard, when Thome is brought back to the active roster, Sweeney is getting sent down to Charlotte. I hope this doesnt happen. He needs AB at the big league level and his glove has been tremendous. I would rather see one of those morons in the Pen get sent down. Preferably McDougal.

I assume you'd rather see Sweeney starting over Ozuna/Mack in LF? Otherwise, he'll just atrophy like BA was, in which case I'd rather let him pick up ABs in Charlotte.

I'd send down Boone Logan and keep up Sweeney as long as he starts. Otheriwse, as eriqjaffe stated, it would be a waste to keep him on the bench.

It's like, every year, the Sox have a previously reliable reliever (or two) completely melt down:

2007 - MacDougal
2006 - Cotts & Politte
2005 - Marte & Takatsu (although Takatsu is a different case, since a lot of that had to do with nis novelty pitching style)

Man, how did you forget Koch on that list Although, he was never good on the Sox, the others at least had 1 good season with the Sox.

Absoultely. He needs his AB, but preferably at the ML level. Ozuna, while not a good hitter at all, can at least play the infield. Mackoviak on the other hand, would be an option to send down as well (if that is a possiblitly), not sure of his roster status.

But then you have to worry about what happens when Pods comes back. He seemed to be back to his '05 ways, jump starting the offense and stealing bases again. So I guess there really isnt any room for Sweeney then either.

The problem we have is that outside of Dye, we have a lot of outfielders, but none of them standout!

Sweeney isn't a good option for a corner OF position, but he's probably a better option than Podsednik.

Yeah, 1 good season with the Sox was my criteria there.

He had a good inning, I think... Yeah, I think there was this one inning that he only let up like 2 hits and 1 run

I think everybody forgot that Luis Terrero is on the major league roster. When Pods comes back, if Sweeney stays, Terrero goes. However, I think it would be that would be a very unwise choice, for reasons stated above. Terrero's ceiling is as a good-glove no-hit backup, where Sweeney's ceiling is still TBD and he needs to play regularly.

Either way, Sweeney will be sent back down when both Pods and Thome are healthy.

In related news, Thome and Hall are both set to go on rehab assignments in Charlotte right now. Thome is expected back next week, Hall's return is up in the air, but the Sox are still hoping for late May.

Hopefully, Hall will bring his MAD JEDI SKILLZ!

Contreras with the 5-hit shutout to take 2 out of 3 from Minny in the HeftyDome.

"Where's your air conditioning now?"
