Sure, they did a lot of "small ball" type things, but most of their runs came from the home run... 4th most reliant in the league for it, in fact. Also, it's highlighted by the fact that going back to 2000, they've had an above average offense every year except... 2005! And that year they were among the team leaders in home runs hit (partially a side effect from their stadium, but you get my point, regardless!) I wasn't trying to attack you or anything, I was just making the point that you made a very false statement. |

Oh, and relying on the home run isn't a bad thing by any means. They did in '06 and '04 as well, and they had one of the best offenses in the league.
In '05 they won DESPITE their mediocre offense because of some great years by their pitchers and solid defense all around. |

Speaking of changing your dog's name, I bought the McFarlane Magglio Ordoñez figure, and he blew out his knee a week later. I've been superstitiously avoiding buying the new Thome figure... |

![]() I havent been a fan of the Chisox that long, just since '93. Wasnt even a baseball fan until then really, just something about getting beaten by the Jays made me a fan. Plus guys like Ventura and McDowell made it hard not to like them! |

Good game versus the Twins, things were looking good, with a 4-1 lead in the 8th, but then wildman Mcdougal comes in and ****s it up.
Ozzie's bullpen use is bewildering sometimes. Im also surprised that with 1b open, red-hot Tori hunter wasnt walked to get to Cuddyer. Gah! |

Yeah. Wasn't 2005 wonderful?
And probably something we won't be going through again any time soon? |

Yeah, that loss was pretty hard to take. We had the Twins right where we wanted them. Up 4-1 in the 7th. But Ozzie's lost this one for us.
Here's what I dont understand. Aardsma is our best reliever, better than Jenks even. If Ozzie was prepared to have him pitch 2 innings (which he did last night), why not just bring him in for the 7th and 8th instead of McDougal, thornton and Sisco? Then bring out Jenks for the 9th. Mind boggling. At some point, he needs to stop trying to get these guys to prove themselves, especially in a big series like this. McDougal is giving me that "Marte" feeling everytime he pitches. I tell ya, after this game Ozzie should have gone off! Id have been breaking everything I could find in the visitor's lockerroom. ![]() *edit* And seriously, how many freakin gimmicks do the Twins need??? Pirhanas, and tape on the caps?? WTF? If the Sox fans ever pull this gimmick crap, go ahead and shoot me. Please. Last edited by MogulChamp; 05-09-2007 at 08:34 AM. |

Ozzie's reply at the end of the game:
"Those type of games can put the team down," Guillen added. "We have to forget about this game and keep fighting." Wrong answer buddy. How bout this one? "The Twins were who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook! These guys in my locker room better wake the **** up, and go out there and kick the Twins a** tommorrow, or Ill do it myself!" Thats a much better reply. ![]() |

I doubt it. Ozzie has this weird manlove for the Twins. Probably because he knows that they have, over the past 5 or 6 years, PWNED us with regularity.

See 2005.... I know we keep living in the past here, but it is so frustrating to watch this team when just 2 years ago we got to see that. The '05 team consistently won 2 out of 3, which is what this team needs to start doing now or forget about it. The Tiggers are unbelievably hot right now and the Sox are going to fall too far behind to catch up.

Eh. If we've learned anything over the past 2 seasons, it's that nobody is really out of is this soon - one year ago today, the Sox had a 9 1/2 game lead over Minnesota, and we all know how that turned out.
However, the Sox just don't seem to have it this year, whatever it is. |

-Erstad in CF -eXtreme regression by Dye -Regression by Crede, and Pierzynski -Slight regression by Konerko -Thome injury risk -Buehrle's severe decline in peripherals over the last few years -Danks replacing Garcia in the rotation All things off the top of my head I saw working against them coming into the season. If I could bring myself to watch, I'm sure I would find it hard.
I saw the top of the 4th last night. Runners on the corners, 1 out. Pierzynski works Bonser to a 2-0 count and then strikes out looking. Iguchi comes up, and strikes out looking. So...um...how 'bout them Bulls? |
