OOTP Financials Helper

OOTP_Financials_Helper_v6.00.zip @

http://members.shaw.ca/kq76/ootp/

Introduction:

This excel workbook helps you to: 1) understand how OOTP calculates your financials and 2) run what if scenarios like trying to figure out how to make more room to sign players.

Directions:

-Take a look at the example sheets to get an idea of what the final product looks like.
-Copy and paste the #s from your OOTP's financial and salary reports into the appropriate yellow cells of the "input output" sheet. Note that copying and pasting might change the color though so if you want to do it again it's best to start from a fresh copy of this file. It might also help to copy the reports, especially the salary report, to a new sheet like the example so you can more easily copy multiple salaries later. Copying from some browsers like firefox you might need to copy it first to a text editor and then to excel.
-If necessary, press F9 to refresh after you have copied all the numbers.
-To figure out what #s make up what other #s:
--using the Auditing toolbar (View | Toolbars | Formula Auditing),
--click on a white cell with a # in it,
--press the trace precedents or trace dependents buttons on the toolbar,
--and look at the formula in the selected cell
-You can add and remove players from the appropriate lists to see what your financials would look like if you made different transactions (trades, FA signings, releases, extensions, etc). For example, if you extended a player with 1 year left on their contract then they would need to be removed from your soon-to-be-FAs list and added to your NY and TY Salaries of Extensions lists.

$ Left For Formulas (the FAQ is wrong for v6 Extensions):

Free Agents (during regular season)
= (Last Year Merchandising Revenue + Last Year Attendance Revenue + This Year Broadcasting Revenue + Cash)
- (This Year Payroll of Players & Coaches)

Free Agents (during FA period)
= (Last Year Merchandising Revenue + Last Year Attendance Revenue + This Year Broadcasting Revenue + Cash)
- (This Year Payroll of Players & Coaches + Contract Offers)

Extensions (v5)
= (Last Year Merchandising Revenue + Last Year Attendance Revenue + This Year Broadcasting Revenue + Cash)
- (This Year Salary of Players with 2 or more years left on their contract + Next Year Salary of Extensions + This Year Salary of Coaches)

Extensions (v6 approximate)
= (Last Year Merchandising Revenue + Last Year Attendance Revenue + This Year Broadcasting Revenue + Cash)
- (This Year Salary of Players with 2 or more years left on their contract + Next Year Salary of Extensions + This Year Salary of Coaches + approx. 94% of Arbitration Estimates)

Questions or Problems? Post them below and I'll get to them.

It's easiest to just wait until the next season, but if you really want to calculate a following season's $ for FAs then you can try the following which should get you close:

Quote:
$ for Free Agents Next Season

=Forecasted Current Year End (Attendance + Broadcasting + Merchandise) + Forecasted Next Year Start (Cash - Payroll)

[ignore]
=IF(Refs2!$AE$13=0,I29+I30+I31+I45-I64,(($E$33+I33)/2)+I45-(I17+I59+I60)+(I50+I51+I52)-I62)
[/ignore]

WHERE:

Forecasted Current Year End Attendance
= Actual Year To Date Attendance / (Actual Year To Date Home Games / Games per Games per Season / 2)

[ignore]
=I4/I73
[/ignore]

Forecasted Current Year End Broadcasting
= Full Amount

Forecasted Current Year End Merchandise
= Actual Year To Date Merchandise / (Actual Year To Date Total Games / Games per Team per Season)

[ignore]
=I6/I72
[/ignore]

Forecasted Next Year Start Cash
=IF
Actual Year To Date Cash + Forecasted Current Year End Profit > Cash Max,
THEN
Cash Max
OTHERWISE
Actual Year To Date Cash + Forecasted Current Year End Profit

[ignore]
=IF(I12+I41>Refs2!$AE$3,Refs2!$AE$3,I12+I41)
[/ignore]

Forecasted Next Year Start Payroll
=Actual Year To Date Payroll + Next Year Extension Salaries - 1 Yr Obligations

[ignore]
=I17+I59-I63
[/ignore]
