LOGO DESIGNER: Logo #1 for the "OOTPB Favorite Logo Compilation
PORTLAND TIMBERJACKS
This is Logo #1 for the "OOTPB Favorite Logo Compilation". If you would like to design a logo, you have until Midnight Tuesday at 11:59 pm CST (USA) to e-mail it to jnshmoo. You may submit more than one logo...but please make them distinctly different from each other...and not just slight variations of the same logo. HIS E-MAIL ADDRESS: ootplogo at jnshmoo.us (You will have to take out the "spaces" and add the real "at" symbol...this is to cut down on spam to jnshmoo) Size: 150 x 150 pixels jpg format Sorry for the rules changes...Hopefully, I have communicated them correctly this time. If you have already created your logo and might have violated this new policy, we will allow it for this first logo only. My apologies for causing the confusion. RULES: DO NOT USE ANY EXISTING PRO SPORTS LEAGUES LOGOS. A designer cannot use an already existing professional logo in the logo design and creation...it must be a new creation. The time zone is Central Standard Time in the USA...my time zone. DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR LOGO: 11:59 PM CST TUESDAY For the time zone challenged, Midnight Central Time on Tuesday is: (COMPLIMENTS OF THE TIMELESS WONDER, LE GRANDE ORANGE) 10 p.m. Pacific on Tuesday 11 p.m. Mountain on Tuesday Midnight Central on Tuesday 1 a.m. Eastern on Wednesday 2 a.m. Atlantic on Wednesday 6 a.m. GMT on Wednesday "Timberjacks" was chosen because of the great lumber and forestry industry in the Portland area. "Timberjacks" has a double meaning as well..."timber" is baseball slang for "baseball bat" and "jack" is baseball slang meaning to "hit it hard"...as "he jacked it out of the park" for a home run. Please note that this committee has been asked to not use current or old nicknames, but create new and hopefully original ones. Sorry, I know you Beaver and Roses fans might be disappointed. The Beavers have a fine minor league history. We intend to try to come up with a nickname that relates to the culture and history of the city...if possible. But sometimes we may just have to pick a nickname just because it is a good nickname and has no relationship to the city. Be patient with us...but feel free to critique our choices...just be kind and gentle to the committee...we are all sensitive and delicate souls. Great first choice to lead things off! I applaud the selection committee's choice.
Remember the rules -- do not use current pro sports team logos! Other web graphics (including amateur sports teams) are fair game or freehand it if you are talented (or daring!) enough. Good luck to all.

He may have posted it like that to avoid spammers. Substitue "@" for "at" and be sure to leave NO spaces. |

I just didn't want a lot of spam coming in and increasing the chances that I'd delete a legit entry by mistake. I figure if things get bad, I'll just create another account for the contest and switch.

Thanks for being a part of the Logo Project. Just remember to use only numbers to identify each designer, so the vote will not be biased. We want to keep the designers' names anonymous until we post the top votegetter...the "Favorite". We will identify all of the designers and their logo entry when you post the results the day following the deadline...When you upload the "Favorite Logo" and the others, the "Special Logos", to JoeRock's and BigCity's sites, put them in separate compilations...one entitled "OOTPB Favorite Logos Compilation" and "OOTPB Special Logos Compilation"...identify the logo designer in each of these compilations. You will have to contact JoeRock and BigCity and make these arrangements. You are the only one who will know the names of the designers. Please do not share the info with anyone until after the voting deadline. We want to make this as fair as vote as possible. Thanks again..and sorry for my computer illiteracy about the e-mail address and spam problem caused by it...that is a good thing to know. |

I did say team nicknames given by the selection committee must not be from the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL. That part may have been a bit confusing. If someone has already started and is using a minor league logo, I guess we can let it slide for the first one. However, my guess is voters will look at original ideas more favorably than someone taking the Clinton Lumberkings (which has been used her countless times) and adding a new team name to it. |

![]() One, we're not in Daylight Savings Time (CDT) anymore, we're in Standard Time again (CST)... Two, isn't midnight the first minute of the next day, rather than the last minute of the previous day? So the midnight you want is on Wednesday, not Tuesday... On the plus side, this contest has gotten me back into the Logos forum to see what people come up with... so kudos to all involved.

From one nitpicker to another...thanks for being a nitpicker.
I totally forgot that we are back to Standard Time. Will correct this. Talk to LGO about when the day begins...my begins when I wake up.

LivnLegend: Please post in this thread exactly what you want in the rules and I will edit my posts. I will use this until you give me exactly what you want. RULES: DO NOT USE ANY EXISTING SPORTS LEAGUES LOGOS A designer cannot use an already existing professional logo in the logo design and creation...it must be a new creation. It may be tonight before I can insert the new rules clarification that you give me. I will be out this afternoon. I hope we get it right this time. We shouldn't be changing the rules after the game has started. This makes things very confusing to people.

I will remove "college logo" from the statement. I just hope these rules are not so stringent that they will severely limit the number of designers who submit logo designs. As far as I am personally concerned, I just want a good logo...I don't care what the designer uses to create it.

I'm sorry...we did not truly think this out well enough. Next time I take part in a project like this, everything will be agreed on by the parties involved and written in stone PRIOR to the thread. Check with LivnLegend...this is his idea and he should make the decisions. I have fouled things up enough, so I am not going to answer it...and foul things up more. I'm still smiling and excited about this great idea and this logo project. I hope we get 15 or 20 designers to participate. That would be tremendous. I would be happy with 5 entries by 5 designers...one per designer. We would get a whole lot of fine logos that way. |

There is also the question of secondary logos; Cuss often does those, and I have on occasion as well. For the purposes of this contest, I would say only submit primary logo designs, and then one could always post any secondary designs on their own after the voting is done. The question about mulitple versions of a primary logo still stands though. Won't happen for me on this first team name in the contest, but it might later on, who knows... |
