'Ancient' bugs report thread

I am currently bugfixing OOTP 6... and I would like to catch as many bugs as possible which have been in the game for several versions. In order to make sure I have them all on my list, please post them here!

Thanks for your help

There are a few scenarios in which this happens, but just an example:

Markus, thanks for making this thread.

I only started with STB2003. So, I don't know if the below bugs are truly ancient. Please excuse/forgive me if the below are not true ancient bugs.

1. Ghost player issue: Players with no ML experience not retiring properly (not removed from database)

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ad.php?t=70805

2. CSV utility design issue: Inactive player info also generated in CSV

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ad.php?t=69058

Thanks.

Instead of explaining them all over again, here are some links to bug discussion:

RBI improperly credited on throwing error bug:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ad.php?t=74084

Sac Fly throwing error bug
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ad.php?t=74072

I can't find links, but there are also issues with a pitcher not being given an earned run in some situations. I think the catcher overthrow to second is one of these (sometimes that runner, if he ends up scoring, is an earned run. Sometimes not.)

Then a strange bug in which the loss is attributed to the wrong pitcher that I've only seen once:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ad.php?t=73878

I've had a weird thing where I'll put a player on waivers, he's claimed, and then he ends up staying on my team. Not sure if the AI team is removing their claim or what happens here. It's frustrating because this happened to me in August. I tried trading the player but he was always claimed. Then I tried just waiving him and he was claimed, but never left my team.

Yay for fixing bugs.

for online league if you release a player during fa Bids in the offseason , the player disappears from the game. not sure of that happens in solo league too

also , the salary report in front office gives false infomation....its so confusing if there going to be free agents or not, especially minor league free agents. it seems like the salary report is going by previous version rules...

also it seems like the cpu teams, dont use there best relievers, it seems like the worse rated relievers gets more innings than the best rated relievers...

also is it possible to have free agents signing enabled or disabled feature for non financial league and anyway to hide the team financial information that show up on the free agents signing screen.

thanks

I cannot endorse these ideas strongly enough.

I create my own schedules because the schedule generator is so poor.

I want balanced schedules with same number of games against each opponents and same number home and away...yeah, I am a sick perfectionist.

Please forgive me if this has been fixed in OOTP6. I haven't had to do a schedule for OOTP6...I just use schedules from OOTP5.

Please fix the schedule editor, so that when you delete the 6th game in the left column, it doesn't cause all of the other games in the right column to slide down out of sight and you have to put delete those games and reenter them.

This really is a pain when you are manually doing the schedule.

anyway to do this...if you switch player role...like starter to middle releiver or left fileld to 1b etc, that it has no bearing when you do extension contract for resign your player....

it will look at what position it played the most at, and go by that for contract extension and not what his primary role is currently set to

I agree that player contract demands (in FA, extensions, arbitration, market adjusting, whatever) should not change when you change primary position (it happens less now with position players, but it is still absolutely atrocious for pitchers with being able to sign all-star calibre SPs to league minimum contracts). However, I strongly disagree that it should look at what position the player has played recently. Take ARod for example, would he willingly take 3B money now when he can still play SS? What if they moved him to 1B or worse, DH? What if someone did that in an online league, played ARod at DH in the last year of his contract year? The other GMs would be mightily peeved, and rightfully so. Exact same thing for pitchers. Player contract demands need to be based on market supply and demand and for most players that will mean that they will demand what they would get paid if their managers fully utilized their capabilities (playing a great player at whatever they are best suited for).

One other thing I found was that if you have a 1B and then go and edit his ratings to a perfect SS (A range, .999 F%), his contract demands will not change one bit. That blew me away. Surely all else equal, a SS is more valuable than a 1B and should therefore demand more money. Contract demands should take defense in mind, at least for the good defensive players at important positions.

EDIT: Markus, thank you very much for looking at all these old issues. It is very much appreciated.

lol - yeah, ancient enough

Also, when entering batter info using csv imports it doesn't copy over everything perfectly well. (most frequently the Gap power)

Not sure if this was already fixed or not, but sometimes auto-lineup for minor league teams will clear the lineup instead of create one.

Not sure how ancient it is or if it was fixed in v6, but in V5 if a game is played on a different PC and imported, the minor league games don't get played (hence nno development occurs).

The second run never scores, and isn't counted. The game ends at 1-0.
