Jamaica League 1953 champs: Halfwaytree Browns

The Halfwaytree Browns have won the 1953 Jamaica Series! Once again, congratulations to GM Andy Romig, aka 84cubsfan; ever since he customized his team with some personnel changes in early 1951, his Browns have played the best baseball in the Jamaica League. The Browns beat the West League champ Maypen Iguanas four games to one, and kept the trophy at the Half-way tree.

The Browns are the first Jamaica League team to win two championships and also the first (or course) to win two in a row.

My thanks to the owners for four great seasons so far, and to those others in the community who have checked out the league. We’re on the verge of our fifth season, and it’s been a blast.

And congrats to Andy! 2 championships in the first 4 years, not too shabby.

This is because Morant has been one of Halfwaytree’s trading partners, and some former Rays have won rings with the Browns.
