Henry's Player Evaluation AI Setup

I can't find Henry's formula with a search. Could someone who has it post it for me? Thx.

IIRC, I think at certain points within a season, it's suggested to 'change' your player evaluation formulas? At the beginning, in the middle, and near the end of the season. There was a thread on it awhile ago - can't recall if it was Henry's though. Thing is, I'd rather not want to have to tinker about with percentages throughout the season...guess I'd like to have some kind of default range going on all the way through.

to get realistic trades , put it on hard, favor prospects
also it was recommend to put trades on Low..

and change the default player AI evaluation Modifier..the default weighs to much on current stats, so if a player has a slow start, the Ai might trade him...

Rating, current, last yr stats, 2 yr old stats

April 50%,0%,30%,20%
May 50%, 5%, 30%, 15%
June 50%, 10%, 30%, 10%
July 50%, 15%, 30%, 5%
Aug 50%, 20%, 30%, 0%
Sept 50%, 25%, 25%, 0%

Now, to change the player AI evaluation setup every month...well. In all honesty, I'd probably be a bit too lazy to do that every single time. If, however, the player evaluation setups could store percentages for every month of the season? I'd probably be more inclined to do so.

I've kept it at the same percentages that were posted in another thread from awhile ago. Don't have the game with me right now, on this computer, but I do recall 50% for the present season year.

OK, I keep players ratings at 40%, keep last season at 30%. In April I have two seasons ago at 30% and at the end of each month I add 5% to the current season. Seems to work great for me.

I'm using $25M max cash, everything else (financially speaking) default, and seeing good FA bidding wars. Payrolls range from $48M to $102.9M in this season (2023).

I use $50mil cash max and everything else defaults. Haven't made it to the end of 2004 yet, but it was worked just fine in the past.

It seems there are a couple months worth of posts that the search function is not working for. So, for future reference (I had a hell of a time finding these threads, so I'm linking them here to hopefully be caught by future searches), Henry's thread is at: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ad.php?t=62617 and it was first brought up by I believe CoachL with some other suggestions at: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...842#post676842

Of course one can come up with numerous combinations, but you might want to consider something like this:

April 50-0-33-17
May 50-4-31-15
June 50-9-27-14
July 50-14-24-12
August 50-19-21-10
September 50-24-17-9
October 50-29-14-7

The main difference is that by the end of the season this year's stats are given twice as much weight as last year's and last year's twice as much as 2 years ago. Henry's instead gives this year's and last year's equal weighting by the end of the year and no change in weightings for the beginning of October for the playoffs.

Here's what I'm doing in my dynasty.

"I started doing this at the beginning of 2013, and I wanted to talk about it again right now, since I just remembered to make the adjustments. Here are my Player Evaluation settings that I’m adjusting monthly:
January 1 – April 31: 50% ratings / 0% for 2013 stats / 30% for 2012 stats / 20% for 2011 stats
May 1 – May 31: 50 / 5 / 30 / 15
June 1 – June 30: 50 / 15 / 25 / 10
July 1 – July 31: 50 / 25 / 25 / 0
August 1 – December 31: 50 / 35 / 15 / 0

I’m pretty happy with the waiver/trading activity with these settings. I’m using these figures because I want trading deadline moves and contract extensions (almost all of which are signed on 7/31) to be evaluated with more emphasis placed on the current season’s statistics."

If you'd like to see how much transaction activity that generates, my league export is here.

Henry, what settings do you use in the offseason/free agency period for the evaluation modifier?

Thanks,
Tom

Just Use the september one..

Rating, current, last yr stats, 2 yr old stats

April 50%,0%,30%,20%
May 50%, 5%, 30%, 15%
June 50%, 10%, 30%, 10%
July 50%, 15%, 30%, 5%
Aug 50%, 20%, 30%, 0%
Sept 50%, 25%, 25%, 0%

also Recommend by Skydog is if you dont want to change it every month, then get and a whole average above...so you can do 50%, 10%, 30%, 10% and use the for the whole season and offseason every year..

That works great too.. with trading on low, favor prospects, Hard..

This staggered player evaluation really needs to be built into the game, changing the modifiers every month is a little tedious. Even having 2 sets of modifiers one for 'first half of season' and 'second half of season' would be a great improvement.
