When do you plan on upgrading your league to OOTP6?

I am trying to decide if I should take the time to make BOSI v2 work with OOTP5. With the overhaul in the ratings system, the exporter structure will change. If I need to support OOTP5, I'll need 2 versions of the importer.

As luck would have it, the POTD (http://www.potd.simleaguecentral.com) is in the offseason, so we are upgrading right now!

Joe, can you determine what changes will be made to the exporter? I use it for a little mod and the structure dumped out by the exporter currently is how I am keyed. If it changes (assuming you update the exporter) I would love a structure dump if you get it.

When I can. Currently the way OOTP6 is, we can't convert. That'll probably be fixed in the first patch though, and then we will be.

We've started season #2, and we expected to use OOTP6 in season #3, and it looks like perfect timing like planned. This will give us time to work out all the bugs, get used to it, etc...

After it has proven its stability and my owners get a feel for the game. We also have an upgrade commision who's taks it is to prepare the league for the upgrade by making proposals what features to enable and how to deal with them

Probably at the end of the season we just started, so in 3 months

BTW: I recommend you to create BOSI v2 for OOTP v6 only. Why invest in old stuff...

Right now, it looks like players.csv will be the only one to change structure. League and team I can just add the new info on the end. However with players, it doesnt make sense to report the old ratings anymore. I will just report the new displayed ratings.

This should close a loophole too. Since the exporter will only report displayed ratings, if I have my guess right, if you have talent set to not display, I believe these will report 0s. I am not sure yet, but judging from the structures, that is my guess.

NABA is upgrading to v6 in a month or so. Every other league I'm in at the moment will be upgrading during their next offseason, times varying between immediately and about two months.

Short Answer: Within 1 to 2 months.

More detailed answer:

APLB - After the 1879 season (We are about to start the 1879 season now in OOTP5)

OOOBL - After the 1902 season (We are currently in the Amateur draft portion of the 1902 season using OOTP5)

But... I won't be using BOSI for the leagues until they are converted to OOTP6 so I won't need functionality for OOTP5.

Ok, at this point, I think I am going to design BOSI v2 to work solely with OOTP6. There have been enough changes between the versions to where to make it work for both just isn't worth the extra effort at this point.

Work is continuing on the new exporter and I will let you know as soon as I have it ready for release.

The KBL just started season 2 and voted in the off season not to switch to OOTP6. I imagine we'll probably switch for season 3 in maybe 3 months, if it doesn't like there's many problems with v6. I'd really like to use BOSI2, but I was imagining we wouldn't get to use it until season 3 anyways.

My bigger concern is, will BOSI2 work on powweb? Last I checked BOSI1 did not.

I'm dying for somebody to say: "When it has been fully tested and found to be ready."

(sorry)

We've got a POWWEB customer on the beta team, so we'll know soon enough. I have optimized my importer as much as I can. However, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I have one league, the B9BL that depends on the next patch happens, we will switch the following season. My other league that I'm trying to get going up again after their commissioner went AWOL, will start with v5, then switch to v6, like the B9BL, when there is a new patch.

I haven't tried running the existing exporter off v6. If that works, then the original BOSI will work with it. However, none of the new features will be used, including the new ratings.

So, if you move to v6 before BOSI is ready, hang on to your league files. You'll be able to import them into v2 all at one time after it's released. This way, you won't lose any development history.
