I liked it, I would rename the news bar, took me awhile to find the standings and that is always the first thing I look for. Maybe call it 'League Standings and News'.

Go ahead and say what you're going to say, I'm not going to hold it against you. I want honest opinions, so say it.

Don't freak out by the 'plain' tag. Plain is much better than overkill. Many leagues homepage looks like someone took a huge handfull of ideas/features and exploded them all over the page. Hard to find anything on them. I personally prefer the simple and functional approach. The MLBC page was done by one of our owners and I love it even though many might think of it as plain.

-the title section is too big (it's over 1 third of my screen)
-the menu is too big
-the news and notes table should be laid out better with the headings just over the columns they apply to
-no need for the table borders
-although it makes the league look active, I'm usually not a fan of news scrollers

It's not awful. I just think the biggest problem is that you are using way more space for everything than you probably should.

When I took a look at it, nothing stood out that made your league have something that stood for it. Most leagues have banners, layouts, pics, etc...

Overall not bad, but I think if you put more work into it, like I know you will, you can improve it alot.

Good work.

Mayb changing the font to script would bring back the old look
Also like what pat said, some pictures and a banner would also make this site even better. good work

Several of the images are stretched and look lopsided - this is likely due to you inputting image sizes. Examples: The 2 ballparks in the header, Babe Ruth (extreme), Earl Smith, and probably Art Nehf. The solution would be to either edit the image sizes before uploading them or to let the html display them at whatever their current size is.

A few ideas.

1-Center the banner and menu bar. Also make that font a tad bigger in th menu. That is what you want to stand out.
2-The scrolling bar is a neat idea, but the white part of it annoys the hell out of me.
3-The game of the week is cool also, but is that really what you want everyone to see first. That is where my eyes are drawn too. I think it would be fitting more towards the bottom.
4-The news and notes i think can be spilt up. Do the AL on one side maybe and the NL on the other. It looks like you are purposly trying to fill space with that and the standings. Eventully you will get tired of having to update the standings each and every sim. Why put something down there that they can see with the click of a button. If you are going to put them on there, maybe color code them with a table of some sorts.

My website is very easily done. I used to do what you did, but each and every sim i would spend hours updating the front page and it took a toll. Now i have all the stuff i need on the left and i write a story about what is going on in the league every sim.
