This forum needs better organization
I haven't posted much in the Mods forum for a while. I just stopped in to look and it's a mess. Hopefully, when the board moves to OOTPD, it will be divided into subsections or something.

I had suggested a split into 2 forums:
Mods Graphics (Graphics Mods) Mods Utilities (Utility Mods) Any other suggestions? |

My biggest beef...and what makes it such a hassle now for me to come to this forum is their are so many requests...
I wish that either the Graphics and the Utilities were split...or that there was one place to go to for posting a request, and one place to go to look for Mods/Utilities or links to them when not posted directly in the forum. |

How about this:
Graphic Mods (logo sets, face packs, stadiums) Utilities (Cato, Stickware, Pierre's stuff) Mod Requests (Requests for logos, stadiums, ideas for utilities) Mod Announcements (all mods, but for announcements only, so that they don't have to get bumped) --Eriq. |

One of the biggest problems is getting the users to actually use the sub-sections properly. We're always going to get someone who is going to say...."I know this belongs in the requests section, but I wanted to make sure it got seen"....

We could encourage flaming towards those who do that..

As far as the number of forum separations the 2 might work well with having the mod announcements stickied to the top of that forum for a certain period of time. The announcements could include a link to the actual discussion thread for that particular mod and would be best if it was closed so that all input about that mod could be kept in one thread.
The requests shouldn't be bad in the respective forums and could always be bumped if needed. To help the matter there could be limitations on new threads for request over 3 while leaving the smaller requests for one specific thread that could be stickied to the top of the forum. There should be a moderator for the forums who makes sure that threads are merged and moved appropriately on a daily basis. This would go a long way toward helping with the overall organization of the forums. This would eliminate the need for us to resort to flames in order to help others get the hang of what we expect from them. The trick is to get a set guideline in place and then to help others to follow that guideline. With respect and courtesy anyone can pursued anyone to do just about anything. If we really want better organization and are willing to not be rude about it in the short run then things will smooth out over the long run. |

Is anyone at OOTPD paying attention to this thread?? There's a number of posts throughout the forum requesting this change from a mods board to utilities and graphics boards.

I really appreciate all of your work in setting up a "Logos" site, but to be honest with you, it is a pain to use...most likely, this could be because of my computer ignorance...or it could be the site. You know the trouble I had trying to register, you finally registered me yourself. On each page I get a warning: "problems with this web page might prevent it from being displayed properly". line: 341 char: 22 error: expected (followed by several symbols) code: 0 This warning doesn't come up on other websites, just yours. It seems to be displayed ok, but when I try to change my passwork in the profile section, it will not do it and says an error has occurred. And worst of all, when I close out the site, there are 15 to 20 ads that have to be closed. If I had to go through all of the above to get the great work you, dbacks, Shub and others do, I would do it, but only if it's the only place to get them. Will this new site be the only place where you great designers will do logo requests? I hope you will still check the OOTP Mods section until this situation has been resolved. I prefer to get logos done on OOTPB's Forum. It is much easier there. I hope Steve and Henry will get involved and provide a workable solution to the "logo requests" situation. As kq76 mentioned, there have been several threads about the logo situation. So far, none of the OOTP staff have offered an opinion or solution. I wish they would. I agree with HolyCow98 and couriers...2 forums...one for '''graphics" and one for "utilities". Last edited by Eugene Church; 07-30-2003 at 09:36 PM. |

I believe the errors are from your own computer. I have no idea how to fix that. As for the popups, they will no longer be there on September 1st as proboards announced this a couple of weeks ago.
And I only created this since a lot of members were complaining about the the requests in mod forum and that I had a spare board to share and also adventureran had web space to share as well. So far it's working very well. There are now less requests in the mod forum and more utility news. And we, the graphics dudes, finaly have a place where we can just post our logos/graphics all over the place without caring what anyone would think. ![]() try seartch the proboard support forum for help on your errors: http://support.proboards.com/?board=general Last edited by Cuss16; 07-28-2003 at 04:38 PM. |

Thanks for all your help. I know you are just trying to solve the logo situation. If I can get your site to work, it will be a great site. Since it looks like the technical problems are caused by my computer, I will get someone to check it out. Dell support has reconfigured my computer several times in the last two months. Perhaps this is the problem. I'll just continue to use the password you gave me on your site and not try to change it in the profile. That's real good news about no popups in September. |

Eugene,
Are you trying to access the forum using AOL? If so, don't. AOL has problems with several forums and other sites due to the way it handles (or doesn't handle) cookies. You can connect using AOL, but then just minimize it and use Internet Explorer to go to the site and that should work. I just tested this and AOL does not work with his forum. |

Cuss, Nice work on the site. I would visit more often but I really prefer to limit myself to an all-inclusive site for each of the games that I am involved with. This forum is a daily stop for me and like OOTPLinks and BBSC your forum has become a weekly stop at best. Hopefully we can get the problems resolved around here and get the ball rolling again like it was before. Maybe in the end we can get a stickied thread that could include links to updated logo sets and such that are located on your site. Just a thought to ponder in the meantime. Best of luck. |

For me, both forums get an hourly stop. That will certainly change when school starts, though.

On a sidenote, I just want to let you know I'm about 75% done with your logo set. I have no idea when it will be done - it's all a matter of when I can find the time. I'm also trying to find time to do a few logos for other people as well. So, I'm pretty busy right now.
