100% accurate ratings?
I'm in a league where we use 100% accurate ratings. I do not believe these show the "real time" rating of players, but rather show the 100% accurate rating of players based on a point of time that the player was "scouted" by the game.
I've seen a number of situations where a player's performance will noticeably drop, and then at certain points of time I'll get a scouting report that, sure enough, says his ratings have taken a dip. Someone else in the league, that is more knowledgeable than I am, seems pretty confident that what you see is what you get and that any time you look at a players ratings. And that when the ratings change you'd get am updated report at that time. For example, Pitcher X has ratings of 55, 55, 55. and has been pretty sold and consistent for a few seasons.. Then in the latter half of this past season, he started walking more guys. Sure enough in October I got a scouting report that said his control dropped. Any thoughts? |

Yeah I have scouting turned off since I play historical and typically there is a difference even between the ratings shown in the profile tab vs the scouting tab. I'm not sure if scouting is turned off why there is a discrepency between views but it is something I have often wondered about. Not sure if there is a way to have the game reinvestigate the player in order to get the most updated ratings onto the profile page or which tab is reflecting the current ratings, but it has always struck me as odd if scouting is off why there would be fluctuations between what you see on different tabs for the same player.

I've never used 100% accuracy, so can't comment on that aspect, but yes, ratings (however accurate) are a snapshot in time. Much as in IRL, prospects will improve (or not!), older players will see their skills erode, players will endure slumps and enjoy hot streaks. My 83 Contact guy will become a 72 Contact guy, even as his Defense picks up by a few points and his Power remains steady.
Even at 100% accuracy, the ratings are not meant to be predictive. They are an assessment of skills, and skills can change, and skills only indirectly determine outcomes on the field. Over time, only re-scouting can reflect those changes based on performance (or lack thereof). In OOTP as IRL, there are guys with all the talent who don't become stars, and guys with limited skills who somehow make themselves indispensable. I'm totally okay with this degree of variance, but it undeniably makes the job of GM and Manager that much harder. And every time I think I see a pattern, there is an unexpected turn I didn't see coming.

With Scouting on at 100% there is a setting that controls the frequency that you get updated reports.

Does your league “Include Stats in Scouting Reports”? If yes, does the accuracy level pertain to just the scouted attribute ratings (which are then modified by the statistics) or to the scouted + statistical combination (which in effect would weight the statistics as zero if indeed the statistics provide no short-term form insight versus the scouted ratings; I sometimes wonder if the scouted ratings are the overall baseline talent but recent statistical data reflects current form, thus abstracting concepts like the adjustment cat and mouse game or out of whack swing mechanics).

I'd be surprised if it didn't just use the ratings from the last scouting report.
You could test this yourself if you really want to know. Just create a new league, set it to 100% accurate ratings, find a player who has a large difference between their current and potential overalls (their ratings would be more likely to change), screenshot their ratings, then sim a day at a time checking to see after everyday if the ratings change from the screenshot. And then when they do, check that they didn't just get a new report. Then report your findings back here.

When using 100% ratings and scouting turned on, you need to either run full scouting or wait for a new scouting report on the player to see any changes in ratings
If you turn off scouting and have 100% ratings then any change to that players ratings should be seen immediately |
