Moving 1B/3B coach around

How come I can't move these two around at will or according to the needs of my team. When my 3rd base coach retires I should be able to move my 1B coach to 3B and hire a new new 1B coach. Lots of teams do this but it's not allowed in OOTP. Any specific reason?

You can do this under the "ACTIONS..." tab next to the coaches I thought?

It won't allow you to interchange base coaches. You can promote them to bench coach or to hitting/pitching coach but you can't simply switch sides.

I did it somehow. It was probably during the offseason however. One of my guys wasn't very good, but one guy was. So I hired someone else, fired one guy, and moved the guy I kept to the other position (I think it was 1B to 3B).
