Would it be going to far to have a hat and shirt made for my fictional team to wear while playing OOTP?

Not nearly far enough if you ask me. You could get a tattoo or several. You could also get a flag for your house and name your kids and pets after your favorite OOTP players.

Multiple players in one of our online leagues got custom jerseys for their players. I went with the players' nickname to avoid getting confused questions on who a fictional player is, but if any of you see a guy in a "Big Dumb" Yankees spring training uniform #64, it's me! If you see a guy in a similar jersey misprinted to only say "Big Dum" it's my buddy Qube.

Years ago out three-on-three basketball team had custom Pelicans jerseys (years before the NBA franchise). Our wives and girlfriends surprised us by appearing at a game in “Co-Pelicans” jerseys, custom made. Our opponents were dumbfounded, but managed to beat us soundly.
