Hey, the final letter grades for the 2024 season are out! See how your team did and follow the link for the short blurb of substantiation:

Arizona Cardinals: C+
Atlanta Falcons: D+
Baltimore Ravens: B
Buffalo Bills: B+
Carolina Panthers: C+
Chicago Bears: D
Cincinnati Bengals: D+
Cleveland Browns: F
Dallas Cowboys: F
Denver Broncos: A-
Detroit Lions: B+
Green Bay Packers: B
Houston Texans: B
Indianapolis Colts: D
Jacksonville Jaguars: F
Kansas City Chiefs: A-
Las Vegas Raiders: D-
Los Angeles Chargers: B+
Los Angeles Rams: B+
Miami Dolphins: D+
Minnesota Vikings: B+
New England Patriots: D
New Orleans Saints: D-
New York Giants: F
New York Jets: F
Philadelphia Eagles: A+
Pittsburgh Steelers: C-
San Francisco 49ers: D
Seattle Seahawks: B
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: B
Tennessee Titans: F
Washington Commanders: A

I can't disagree with the grades for my local teams. Double "F"s! Moreover, they probably have received the same grade for several seasons now.

My home-town teams: F, F
My team that I loved before they turned on their fans: D-
My new local options: F, D+, C+

Thank Lorde I can laugh at it.

(The C+ for the Panthers is mostly because they haven't let Nike wreck those beautiful uniforms, right?)

Its cause no one had any expectations for them to begin with. Then started out worse than anyone thought. Ended the season looking optimistic. And the biggest plus, salvaging Bryce Young.

I think you really should grade teams based on expectations and because of that to me the Panthers are at least a B. Going into the year they looked like the joke franchise of the NFL with a pretty much untested head coach and now they look like they’ll be legitimately decent next year. Not Super Bowl contender decent, maybe not even playoff team decent, but for a team who looked this time last year that they were headed into a Cleveland Browns-esque run of losses over a 2 year period… they should at least be good enough to be able to properly judge talent, and that is a major step forward.

I’d probably stick with giving the Hawks a B overall thanks to the defense coming into form over the second half but maaaan, that B is an A from the D, a B- from the skill positions and QB, and an F———- from the offensive line. It was a young line, which, fine, but it actually got worse as the season progressed, which is not close to fine…

Yes, but if you look closely, you see he had one stolen base. I imagine him sliding into second, feet first, then using the base as a pivot to come upright with momentum and using his forearms to blast the 2B into left field. "Hey, that felt good. Maybe I better stick to football."

He did manage to draw 8 walks so he somehow got on base a fair bit. And IIRC he got his first (two) balls in play in his final game. He was off to the University of Washington at that point and his teammates were all rooting for him not to K…

1. Where's the math? I have no idea what went into making these rankings. It looks fine, but still..........................

2.Baker is the most underrated QB in the NFL

3. Interesting to see the Steeler QB's finishing neck & neck.

4. If this is a legit rating system, folks should not sleep on Caleb Williams.

Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh. At least the Browns got some good work out of Jameis. What must it be like when your guys can't even come within shouting distance of Aidan O'Connell?

The "math" looks like the opinions of one guy who works for the shield. I think the ratings as a whole are an absolute mess. Like, Cousins is rated waaaay too high after he was absolutely terrible (and somehow several spots ahead of Marcus Penix, who... wasn't). I'm sure he put Wilson and Fields right after another to make a point.

Every ratings metric is an opinion. That is what the math nerds don't get. Some are good informed opinions. But they are opinions still.

I'm thinking it is weighted by how many games the QB started. But again, this is a guess. I can't put much stock in a rating system if they can't show their work.

There's a headline in The Athletic that says the Giants are interested in Aaron Rodgers. At first, I cringed. But 2025 is not shaping up to be a banner year anyway, and if they bring him in for a season, he will fill in while the team acquires and develops its true quarterback for the future.

They have no guarantee of getting a QB in the draft. They could bring in ARod & if they do find someone to select, they can pick him & let him sit & learn.

But this is why having even a merely average QB is so important. Cause if you don't have one, you have to make it priority one. And that means often scraping the bottom of the barrel, overpaying, & hoping beyond hope. And that takes away from your focus & resources to fill other needs that are maybe just as pressing.

Note: Giants host the Packers this year.
