Any chance of the company rescuing Title Bout Championship Boxing?

There are still some old timers who still play TBCB, but as time passes it gets harder to do so. I just switched to a new computer, and it looks like it's no longer possible to reactivate my old license or even to buy TBCB 2.5 again. So, all my years of enjoying this incredible game have come to an end.

There is a TBCB 2013, but the website appears to be inactive and the fellow who was working on it has disappeared.

TBCB used to be part of the OOTP corporate family. There is nothing like it! Guys are still rating fighters down in the TBCB section of this forum.

If the company could somehow make it possible for us TBCB players to move this wonderful game to our new computers, it would make lots of old timers really happy. I think most of us would even be willing to pay for the game again.

Just a tiny tweak to the licensing process would bring this great game back to life!

Thank you.

I have an account for PISD from 2013. The download button at the site does not work. The forum also is not working. The "news" page has not been updated since May 2014.

The page asking me if I want to buy 2 more licenses gave me the option to "release" one of the 2 licenses I already paid for in 2013. I clicked "release" and it says PISD "will contact you shortly."

Do you know if the company is still operating? There are no signs of life on the PISD website.

I'm still hoping OOTP will come to the rescue...

Sorry, I don't know if they're still operating. I did find this though regarding "stuck" licenses: http://www.pisd.co.uk/forums/viewtop...?f=3&t=2#stuck

You can see what was on that link using the waybackmachine.

I got an email from the PISD web store saying that one of my 2 existing licenses for TBCB 2013 had been "released." But on the PISD website the "download" button for Windows doesn't do anything. There is a button that supposedly would let me buy the game again, even though the message on the download page says 1 of my 2 existing licenses from 2013 has been "released."

I emailed the web store asking if I have to buy the game again.

Maybe this game is dead and gone. But anyway, if you look at the TBCB forum here, there were a lot of problems with TBCB 2013. There is no indication, here or on the PISD website, that those problems were ever resolved.

How I wish we still had TBCB 2.5.

FWLIW, I thought I read a while back that PISD closed. I posted that link thinking it just might have some info that might be useful to you, but if you have to interact with the site you might be out of luck. I did see the email someone@pisd.co.uk on their main site so maybe try emailing them? Even if the company is dead, who knows, maybe the old owner will still respond. Or maybe even try contacting him via his old account here, pisdpaul.

Oh, that's weird. I just tried the pisd site again without the waybackmachine and it's back up and running again. When I tried Cod's link earlier it was down and so I assumed the site was dead.

The certs are long expired on the website, so that may be why you're seeing it available some times and not all the time.

It's too bad. TBCB is an utterly unique game. Guys are STILL rating fighters down in the TBCB forum. But one by one, old computers will die, and fewer and fewer of us will be able to continue our exciting TBCB universes.

There were a lot of problems with TBCB 2013. Still, even a flawed game might be better than nothing. I'm willing to buy it again, but I feel nervous about inputting my credit card information on a website of a dead company.

If Paul has no interest in keeping the game alive, maybe OOTP could buy it back for a nominal sum. I'm sure many of us old timers would be willing to pay for it again, so their investment would not be lost.

Would it ever be considered abandonware? I'm not even sure it'd matter.

Or perhaps freeware, and made available on Sourceforge like Simutrans.

I've seen free downloads of 2.5 offered but I don't know how current or even safe they are.

I would be afraid to trust a site I don't know. To be honest, I would be happy to pay full price again for TBCB 2.5, should OOTP decide to offer it for sale once more.

Only way we'll see TB 2.5 for sale again is if Paul Norman finds himself strapped for cash and elects to sell it to the public or he finds someone else to pony up the cash to buy the rights.

This is what I have switched too

There is no PC release unfortunately. But it is light years beyond where TBCB ever was in terms of actually managing fighters.

You can sign boxers as teenagers, have them be amateurs in various local, national and regional tournaments and eventually the Olympics if they are good enough (there are Olympic trials as well)

Then at a certain age if they good enough, they will ask to turn pro and you can either let them or try and keep them amatuer a bit longer if you think the need more development.
But there is a chance they will leave your gym.

Then the professional level has so many belts and titles, again with local and national and regional belts and then world titles.

Every modern weight class is included or you can have the traditional ones.

Boxers move realistically between weights. Usually at the lower weights and moving up as they get older.
Moving down is a bit harder and they cannot go as far down as cutting weight gets harder.

The fight engine has gotten a lot of improvements and is pretty top quality now.

The game gets regular updates.
They have said a desktop version is possible, but I have not seen any movement on it in a long while.

That makes me sad. I always come back to the question: "Why purchase an asset and then not try to leverage it?"

I have no interest in a phone-based game. Or an arcade-style 3-D rockem-sockem game. I have played TBCB 2.5 for so many years because its rating system yields pretty accurate results. With a little bit of imagination, you can create an extremely detailed historical universe with fights that are, believe it or not, fun to watch. I have an historical HW universe saved on CD somewhere.

Well, many of us remaining TBCB 2.5 players are old, and we will be dead soon enough.

I downloaded this a while back, but only tried it once. I'm old and just can't sit there and try to play a game like this on my phone. The screen is too darned small. I have a tablet but, again, the screen is too small.

We bought a new computer and monitor recently, partly to beat the coming sharp increase in prices, partly because Microsoft is going to stop supporting Win 10 in October, and partly because I wanted to get a bigger monitor--27 inches instead of 23. My wonderful wife graciously agreed.
