Coaches taking over game
I made myself both GM and head coach:
How do I stop the game from changing my line ups after I set them? How do I stop the game from making trades and signing players? |

Click your name at the top of the screen in game
Than click Managers Options button than on that screen on the right side it will show Manager Control Options and on that screen you can set all the permissions to either yourself or others. There is one that says MLB lineups/pitching staff and such which is what your looking for. The game will sometimes still have the coach do some small changes to account for day to day fatigue and injuries and short term suspensions and such but you can also go into the individual players strategies page and force start them at certain positions/spots in lineup for hitting if you really want them at the same place every game. |

It's also important that you are actually hired by the team, not simply "acting as" a team. If you're not actually hired by a team, they still have full controls regardless of your settings.

First of all, ensure that you are the actual GM & Coach of the team and not "Acting As..." If that is fie, go to the Manager Options page. Ensure that "Setting Lineups & Depth Charts" is assigned to you and not your Bench Coach. Quote:
Under Manager Options, ensure that "Initiate /React to Trades" and other related activities are assigned to you and not your Assistant GM. edit: oops, late to the party. |

And just as a FYI, if you take over as manager or as GM & manager, the game will fire your manager. So if you don't want him fired, either take over as GM or "act as". Taking over as GM will demote your GM to AGM so that's not too bad. But depending on your manager, you might then not be able to override their choices. "Acting as" won't fire or demote anyone, but it will break some features like scouting and news.
I'm still hoping to take over as simply the owner one day, to let everyone do their jobs, but to just meddle or interfere here and there.

How can I make sure I am hired by the team? I made myself the manager and GM. How do I know I am not the acting Manager and GM?

To see if you're "acting as", click on your name menu and if after "Act As" it says "Currently: [some team]", then you're acting as. If not, then you're not. EDIT: Actually, that looks like it's not quite right. It looks like you can be hired by the team and it'll still look like you're acting as if you have "Play in Commissioner Mode" checked, like you do. I think the only way you can know if you're only "acting as" is if you look at your team's Personnel screen and if neither the GM nor manager are you then you're strictly acting as and actually hired by the team.

Also, from your screenshot it shows you're in charge of your lineups, but not trades. To be in charge of trades you're going to need to be either the GM, GM and manager, or "act as" without being on the personnel screen. Manager only and it will be greyed out like you have it.

Also, make sure you have "Do Not Disturb" mode turned off ... if it is on, the AI still runs things.

You screenshot shows that you're NOT the GM. It clearly says Jonathan Hurley is the GM and in those drop down menus J. Hurley (your GM) is in charge of trades, free agents. etc.

Two places to check out.
http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...e=manager_menu This is no different than past versions, so the manual will help you here. I don't recall exact paths, but this is where you'll find "available jobs" and can click "apply to job" to get hired. may need comissioner mode on to get any job you want? or not, easy enough to remedy if so. That option is in this area of settings too. Manager's office - settings tab - this is where you can delegate various things or retain control - from minors to ml level. Also, under "global settings" of the league settings, there's an option call "legacy gm mode" this will ensure that even a controlling manager with a big reputation will not ignore your wishes for lineups and such. http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...e=game_options again, all of this looks 99% the same in ootp24, so the manual will help here. |
