Q&A: How can I add folder exclusions to my OOTP folders to my antivirus and search programs?
Q: How can I add folder exclusions to my OOTP folders to my antivirus and search programs?
A: If your computer ever feels sluggish while running OOTP, you should definitely add folder exclusions to your Antivirus and Search programs, or any other program that might be looking at your files. This will likely help your computer run other programs better too as it won't be putting so many resources into looking at all these files. When you do, however, make sure you're excluding the correct folders as OOTP's data might not actually be where you think it is. Maybe the most common antivirus now is Microsoft Defender. Here's how to add folder exclusions to Defender. Most people don't need a different antivirus program anymore as Defender is considered by many to be the best and it comes with Windows. Some people might even say disable your antivirus completely, and you could, but adding folder exclusions is a much better idea. Definitely don't run more than one antivirus program though! I also exclude my Steam Library from Windows's Search Index. A better search program I use, called Everything, indexes files and so I whitelist OOTP's folders in it. You can disable them via Tools > Options > Indexes > Exclude. Macs have their own search program called Spotlight that you might want to exclude OOTP folders in.

White listing install and saved game locations can make a big difference on older machines, or on big leagues, especially if you're saving all boxscores and logs.
