Question Why did I have so few draft rounds?

Hi everyone!

This is my first attempt at creating a fictional league. The setup includes two leagues, each with 26 teams, operating under a promotion and relegation system. Additionally, there is a unified amateur draft (via association) where teams from the top league have the first picks.

Each team has three minor league levels (A, AA, AAA). I configured the draft to have 12 rounds, with player generation continuing until the 15th round. My team is in the lowest division, with the 30th overall pick.

I began the draft, consistently choosing players below my slot. However, after the 3rd round, the draft abruptly ended, preventing me from selecting any more players.

Are these settings correct? I expected the generation of (15 * 52) players and at least 12 draft rounds for each team.

Attach a screenshot of your draft settings screen, like mine below, and we can probably help you better.

Sorry about the delay.

Here are the settings I am using:

1: Association draft settings
2: League draft settings
3: Draft history (note that I simulated the years 2019-2023 and took control in 2024).

Thanks!

After a bit more investigation, I think I messed things up somehow...

During the season, just before the draft started, I noticed that the league priority was wrong (Amateur Draft Order Mode). It was set to "By League, Top to Bottom(...)" and I changed it to "By League, Bottom to Top(...)".

Now, in the Last Draft Log, I can see that the rounds are duplicated. In the first occurrence of each round, my team is at the top of the draft and picked someone in every round (but I had no control at all). In the second occurrence, it is in the correct position but only appeared in 3 rounds.

The players picked during the first occurrence seem to have disappeared from the game.

My theory is that, due to the change I made mid-season, the game tried to emulate 24 rounds but only generated players for 15 rounds. I only managed to control picks from rounds 13-15, after which the player pool was depleted.

Idk if I should have changed this settings mid-season. I will wait until next season to see if things are corrected.

I uploaded the draft log at tiiny.host if someone is curious about it: draft 2024

I've found that draft changes usually work fine in-season as long as you make sure to reschedule things so that the reveal date happens again. Association drafts can be finicky anyway, I don't doubt that making a structural change like that without rescheduling to a future date to re-process was the cause.
